Hi guys, 1st post here. Have a question tho. I've been browsing around looking for a revolver in 44 mag when I came across 2 good deals to hard to pass up in what I was looking for.

DW 744VH mfg. unknown (don't know palma or monson) -How would I figure this out? I know Palma has issues with QC and what are they and what should I look for? 6in barrel.

The other I came across was a SW 629-2 8 3/8 barrel with unfluted cylinder. Have never seen another one of these around.

Anyone know about the reputations of these guns?

Look on the DW's frame (below the cylinder window) and it will be stamped where it was made.
The Smith would be a good gun if it checks out to be tight. The DW is a stronger gun, but it also depends on where that one was made. Can't tell you much with the limited info you give. Just go over each one with a fine tooth comb. If you don't know about revolvers then have someone that you trust help you.
