E Morsi Jr Blackpowder rifle

Hi:

Looking for some expert help IDing a rifle. Sorry at this point I don't have a picture. A friend just picked up a what he described as an undertrigger Kentucky rifle with a cap & ball ignition, rifled barrel, and looks to be around 30 caliber. The buttstock is curved and the wood seems almost hand hewn. It has a ramp sight on the barrel and the words E Morsi Jr are on the bottom of the barrel.

I will try to get some pictures when my friend returns, but any ideas would be appreciated!


UPdate: Just learned that the rifle has W P Dewitt on the barrel and that there is no "Jr" after "Morsi"

You might try asking over on the American Long Rifles forum. There's 2 sections there about collecting black powder guns - "contemporary" and "antique".
Post as much information as you can including where the gun is from, and photos are usually helpful.
