My father acquired a 1912-framed 1911 many decades ago, but the slide appears to be much newer--maybe. The frame looks like it came from the Augusta Arsenal refinish job just yesterday, and the slide is near pristine.
The slide on the left side says "government" above the word "model". To the right is "Colt" and then to the right of Colt is "automatic" over "caliber .45" (All capital letters.) Rampant pony to the right of the text.
On the right side of the slide is "Colt's Mfg. Co. Hartford CT USA.
No other markings on slide.
Any idea about the slide?
Rough guesstimation of value?
