I just picked up an early (pre-b) 1931 Win model 52 that is in great condition except it has THE crack on the left side action above the safety lever. I've read varing opinions on this affecting the gun, but overall I'm happy with it. With iron sights off a bag I shot, 5 shot, dime size groups at 75yds with std rem ammo first time out. Here's my question, with new welding technology, micro-welding and laser welding, is it worth grinding out the crack and having it welded up? I've talked to two tool and die shops near me who would do it for under $50

could you post a pic? welding would mean refinishing the meatal. Might destroy collector value. Seeing the area would help

Crack

I'll try to get a pic when I get a chance. This is a Small lug that supports the safety rod maybe .250" high .100 thick and .125 wide. From what many say the crack has ruined the collector value anyhow. Hasn't affected accuracy
