Let me start by admitting I'm being lazy. Looking for a powder that goes through a powder measure easily. Shooting 140 grainers. Got some really good accuracy with 4831, but jeez, trying to run that through a powder measure takes some serious patience. Of course I don't have that. Any suggestions for a ball powder, flakes, or really fine extruded powders? Thank you.

H380
Meters like butter and data is listed for 140s at the Hodgdon site.

I use H380 a lot. Once you get your measure set.....................forget about it.

If you're looking for a ball powder, I've used a lot of H414 in 7x57 with good results. H414 seems to be in the slow side of the sweet spot of burn rates for the chambering, and H380 sits on the faster side. I've not used H380 so I can't speak to it.

^ You're right, H380 is a little slower than BL-C(2) and a little faster than H414.
I've even used H380 in .30-06 with great results. It may not be the optimum powder for it, but the deer still drop DRT. ;)

Some powders that meter well, and are usable in the 7x57 are IMR4320, Accurate 2230, IMR 8208XBR, Alliant 2000MR, and WW780.
Some are slow enough that if you have a short barrel, there will be a LOT of noise. If you have a longer, 22-24", barrel, there will be a potential for a little higher velocity.
FWIW, my barrel is 20", so the faster powders fit a bit better.
Have fun,
Gene

I use a lot of IMR 4064, H4895 and H4350 in 7x57 with my LPPM _with_ a baffle and it meters very well. +-0.2 gr with all of them which is close enough for 40-ish grain loads for what I do.

I have one load that uses H-414, but it is really temperature sensitive. I think it's the 110 grain Speer TNT.

AA-2520 should meter very well and is in the right range, but load data is a little scarce.
