eForm 1 and CLEO

And the spinning wheel lands on……West Fargo, ND!! That’s 50 miles from where their trip started and 1,290 miles from where they are supposed to be, boys and girls. Harrisburg! What the eff are you doing? Martinsburg, WEST Virginia, not WEST Fargo, NORTH Dakota. Clearly, Harrisburg, you are confusing your cardinal directions.

If West Fargo sends them back to Harrisburg, ye have little faith they will survive another trip. God only knows where the hell Harrisburg will send them next.

“It’s a long way to heaven, it’s closer to Harrisburg
And that’s still a long way from the place where we are” - lyrics by Josh Ritter from the song Harrisburg.

They're baaack! Aaand they're gone.

Prints were back in Harrisburg today for the third time and departed for the third time. Third time's the charm, right?

With a quick turn around in Harrisburg this time, maybe they will be in Martinsburg tomorrow. Fingers crossed. Or should I say fingerprints crossed.

I did call the ATF and asked them about "submittal" date for prints. The person I spoke with indicated postmarked date is what they look at. They receive prints outside of the 10 business days and they are accepted. However, if my prints aren't there when and examiner looks at the application, it would be rejected.

Good question. When tracking had it going back to Harrisburg, each time I thought it was going to be delivered the next day. By then, more than 10 business days was passed and it looked like they were coming back to my sending post office. I spoke with the postmaster and they were going to overnight them. They didn’t get that chance as west Fargo distribution center sent them back to Harrisburg.

One reason I called the ATF was about the postmarked date. I didn’t get a clear answer on that. New prints might get there sooner, but with a postmark past 10 business days.

I had prints done at the sheriff’s department. They charged for that (less than an online kit). I’d have to schedule another appointment and pay again.

Anyway, that’s why I’m crossing my fingers now.
With my eForm submitted, I don’t think electronic prints are an option at this time either being past 10 days or had to be submitted with the eForm.

If my form is not approved, my understanding is after the deadline, there will be an option to resubmit on paper. My understanding may be out to lunch.

ATF will send you fingerprint cards for free.
You can roll your own prints.

Is there any cheap ink pad you recommend?

The first set I sent in were a set ordered from the ATF. I had the sheriff’s dept do them because I didn’t want to screw them up.

$10 on Amazon, LINK. I use these at work for fingerprints for DoD and DoE security clearance background checks.

For taking the prints, (1) make sure you wash your hands well and use plain hand sanitizer or alcohol and let it dry before printing inking, (2) use light pressure and a smooth single roll from one side to the other, NEVER roll your finger back and forth, and (3) do all the prints on one hand, both sets but re ink your finger between sets, and then re wash your hands before moving to the next hand. That last step will make sure you don't have accidental smudges on the forms.

ETA: Also if you don't want to reach out to ATF for more print cards I can send you several, just PM me and I'll get them tossed in the mail this afternoon.

The fingerprint’s journey is almost over. My tracking didn’t show that they had arrived in Martinsburg, but I called the Martinsburg post office to see if they knew where they were and they had received them at 9:06 am today. They are out for delivery. Yay!

Will I be able to see if the ATF has applied the receipt to my eForm when I log in to my ATF account?

ETA: That was a 26 day journey for my prints. They used up all of their vacation time on that trip.

Dropped my Form 1 to a Mesa (AZ) City Police officer behind the glass today. He gave it a quick look over and said he'd get it to where it needed to go.
