I have had a Pact electronic powder dispenser for over ten years. I have never had a problem with it. I don't load all the time. I load handgun and rifle. I throw a charge with a powder measure then dump the under charge into the powder pan and the dispenser completes the charge. Sometimes the unit will not be used for a year or more. Every time I fired it up it worked. Today I started it up and when I pushed the calibrate button on the dispenser it would not calibrate. My thought was I will upgrade to a later model. Lyman or Hornady. After reading the Lyman & Hornady reviews on Midway I think I will call Pact and send mine back for repair. I will appreciate everyone's experience with Lyman, Hornady and Pact. Have people had many problems like the reviews say about Hornady or Lyman? I question the reviews. I will call Pact today--- Thursday 9-25-14 --- and see how there customer service is. Thanks Norman

Haven't had any problems with my 20 year old Pact Precision scale but I've read to reset the Pact you can try this.
1. turn on scale
2. immediately push on-off, yes-no buttons all at the same time
3. hold for 3-5 seconds and release
4. scale should go thru blinking/clearing and come up with 0.00 on the screen
5. calibrate TWICE
Don't know if it'll work with your problem or not but worth a try and will do no harm.

I have an early RCBS, which is in fact a PACT. (rhyme was intentional) :) Years back I did the PACT upgrade - they replaced the guts of the thing with their faster motors or something... anyway, it works great, has always worked great, and their customer service was really good. That was my experience.

The ONLY thing that bummed me out was, when they sent it back to me it had magically changed to PACT gray and was no longer RCBS green, so it's not color-coordinated with the digital scale anymore. :( All the women notice that. Me... not so much.

I called Pact this morning and they informed me that the scale & dispenser were not talking. I forgot about the procedure to get them to talk. I got the scale and dispenser to talk and pushed the calibrate button but the dispenser motors are not coming on. I recalibrated the scale and went through the procedures a couple of times. It will not calibrate. Pact told me that if I mailed in in for repair it would be at least a month or more. I need a dispenser now. I may just buy a new one. Should I stay with Pact or go with Lyman or Hornady? Going to have to think about this. Thanks Norman

normanh,
Take a look at the reveiws on the RCBS 1500 ChargeMaster digital scale/dispenser combo. I've got one and it works as advertised.

I did have one that had 2 years of use under it's belt and went belly up. Called RCBS and they told me to send it in. Low and behold about 2 weeks later I received a brand new one.

I have heard they are made by Pact. I don't know for sure.
Keep us posted on which way you end up going. Good Luck
