Hi Lennyjoe,

the Game King at 300m will be great but the Pro Hunter is even better. Up to 300m the flat base on the Pro Hunter comes into its own, the bullet construction is also slightly tougher. The Pro Hunter is according to my shooting experience more accurate than the Game King.

one more bullet to throw in the stew is the Berger VLD hunting bullet. I have seen them as light as 150 grains and as heavy as 210. I am currently working loads up for my 30-06 using 190's.
Personally I would try to get a bit closer than 500 yards with a 308 on elk....YMMV.
