No pic yet - have a Jungle Carbine Enfield with the following markings:

On the band between the buttstock and forestock, I have 3 lions, it looks like, on a pedistal - one looking straight ahead, one to the left and the other to the right.

Below the lions:

RIFLE
7.62mm2A1
R.F.I.
1965

The receiver is marked C31XX on the top right side forward of the bolt at about the chamber area.

It is in great condition - nearly perfect stock, perfect box magazine, 95% metal finish except for a bolt with matching number and turned down handle in the white.

It was sold to me as an "Ishapore No I Mk III 2A Jungle Carbine."

Any idea what it is - Armory rifle or a commercial rebuild - and if $200.00 was a fair price as long as it shoots well?

TIA

Sounds like an importer conversion. Great little shooters for $200. BTW, it is no longer C&R since it has been converted, if that really matters.

Commercial rebuild. Good shooter, I have an unaltered cousin to it. They originally looked like the Mk.3 No.1, I like them better because they are .308.

Do remember that it is a .308, not .303. As long as you wanted a shooter, nd not a collectible, you did OK. Whenever Dunhams has them, they sell for about $180-$220.

Thanks, fellas - great information. Yeah, I figured in the shape it's in, it's hard to go wrong for $200.00.

Thanks again...
