The article will give something to read while I am shot down with this infernal nasty Ick. Can't even get off the couch to shoot, reload or work on my M38 Mosin( in pieces on a card table). If it weren't for years of old Rifle, Handloader and SGN ragazines I'd be going bonkers. Have to get out next weekend to shoot the P17.

IMA has a very nice reproduction 1917 Bayonet with scabbard for about $70.

Pick up a copy of Shotgun News and you'll peobably find 4 or 5 ads featuring originals for $100-$125. To be 100% correct the original Bayonet should be marked Winchester for the Winchester rifles or Remington for the Remington & Eddystone rifles.

The 1917 bayonet is also correctly fits the 1897 and Model 12 trench guns.
Yes it will fit the Norinco.

In the box that the movers "lost" between Louisvills & Seattle was the box that had my original Remington 1917 bayonet with the PLASTIC Viet-Nam era scabbard.
If anyone knows of a source for those scabbards I'd love to find one.

This is a picture of the rack grade M1917 I just recieved from the CMP. I was mad hat I missed the service grades and took a chance since the description of the rack gradces was pretty bleak. The picture doesn't do it justice, it's an Eddystone built in 6-1918 and has the original 5 groove barrel. The finish is 90% plus and the wood is very tight and has no dents or dings, I'm hoping to find some cartouche's after I clean it up. The tag had it listed as a rack grade due to the bore, and you could look down it and see all kinds of crap so I set to it with MPro 7 and my Otis kit. It took a whole day and almost a full pack of Otis patches but it is now mirror bright and has sharp rifling. The muzzle crowning is perfect. I don't have a muzzle gauge but it does better on the "bullet" test than my service grade Garands. I guess the CMP Gods were smiling on me because this is an almost perfect rifle that is that is 87 years old that I got for $350. I haven't shott her yet but I'm sure that it will shoot better than I do.
