I apologize if this is a repeat (it almost certainly is) but I cannot find a good/reliable source...

I recently acquired two EMF Hartford Model-P .45LC's and I would like to get one engraved with "Father" and give to dear ol dad and the other with "Son" and keep for myself. Nothing fancy, maybe cursive, on the butt of the handle and thats it.

Does anyone know where a trustworthy place to get this done would be and approximately how much it would cost?

Thanks in advance?

For that job, I would take the grip straps off and trot down to the local jewelry store. If they don't do engraving, they know people who do. I am sure a professional restoration outfit can and will do a good job, but they are usually months behind and will probably charge a lot more than a jewelry engraver.

Engraving

Hi. I use Dale Woody. email: [email protected], a guy in WA state who is fast, accurate and reasonable. He can put a Colt colt back on a slide etc. For simple stuff I use a local trophy engraver. $10-20 range.

Last gunshow I met Suzanne Luccieanno at her table while she engraved away. She is a REAL artist with the engraving tool. She mentioned to me that if I have a design I want to draw it on the frame with a Sharpie pen and she will follow my lines. Her e-mail is: [email protected] Maybe you could send her the frames?

They are out there

I would suggest Quigley, this one is in Tempe or Mesa AZ.

Or Mel Wood, in a more Southern part of Az then I am. Most of his work is as much inlay a engraving, really nice to look at to!
