McGunner, Try Remington 7 1/2s. They are what I use in my ROA. They put out more flame than any other small rifle or small pistol primer. You probably have the forerunner of the Mag-spark called a "Flam-N- Go".

I have a couple spares a good Samaritan sent me someone from this board so I'd have the cap if I fumbled and lost it in the field, danged good folks on this board. Anyway, I have the packaging, says "ACCRA-SHOT primer adapter for muzzleloaders". One thing I really like about 'em is they have a cap that unscrews that carries the firing pin. It's sealed with an O ring, takes the worry out of rainy days. :D

When I can get primers readily again, I'll hunt down the Remmies to try. Right now, I've been taking any primer I can find in stock, not real picky.

My first muzzle loader was used CVA from wal-mart. I bought it for 100 bucks with quarters I had saved up. You know what. It will kill a deer just fine. I think the downside is that it takes the tools to open the breach. So I have to carry stuff in the field. I would say, if you can spend a little more money, try and get one that has a breach plug that you can open with your fingers. I also have to use a little tool to load the cap. So if you can load a cap without tools, then even better. All in all, the less crap I have to carry, the better the gun.
