One of the contacts on my 2006-vintage EOTECH 512 turned dark-colored.
NO, I didn't let batteries corrode in it.
This is a condition that just developed over time.
The sight soon started "cutting off on recoil."
I contacted the folks at EOTECH.
At no charge, they immediately sent me a little kit that replaces the contacts, contact springs, and the rubber "bumper" that secures the contacts.
The repair took about 5 minutes.
Sight turns on-and-off just fine after my repair.
Have not range-tested it yet though.
I'm curious as to whether others have done this repair, and what success (or lack thereof) they may have had with the reliability of the repaired sight.
I am already aware of the youtube video where the guy does the repair on camera, and mentions in his comments that the problem persisted.
I'll post the link here now, because I know somebody will do it if I don't.
I'm not "that guy."
