I was watching CBS Evening News (not something I normally do, but hey) and saw an interview of Eric Holder by Katie Couric. It handled several things, but amongst them were gun control. Couric asked very pointed questions concerning the Assault Weapons Ban, and "closing the gunshow loophole."

Holder refused to answer said questions other than to say him and the President were more focused on things "They can do right now" to stop gun violence. At the same time, when she referenced the NRA being "chummy" with Democrats, Holder said he "looked forward" to working with the NRA.

I'm not saying he's to be believed, but I was amazed that he played it that close to the vest. Couric's lips dropped just a little when he said he "looked forward to working with the NRA".... this is very interesting.

He's likely been told to ****.

You got it. Holder is a rabid anti, but the BO admin doesn't want to touch the gun issue... not right now. They will attack guns when they have nothing to lose... like after the mid-term elections in 2014. Assuming BO gets re-elected, and the dems maintain a hold on the legislature through that election, and possibly having a left-leaning SCOTUS by then. BO will have nothing to lose in his final 2 years of office. That appears to be the time when they will unleash their attack.

If the current trend keeps up, EVERYONE in the US will have a firearm by then!

You ain't kiddin' Gamera. Guns and ammo only keep on going up in price, and they are hard to find in common calibers anyway. I doubt that will change while Obama is in office at all, even if he repealed gun controls.

Holder testified in his confirmation hearings that there were absolutely no plans to expand gun control and that there was no new legislation planned. They just got caught lying (again) about the whole "90% of guns killing 100% of the sea turtles in Mexico come from the US" thing so they are going to have to be quiet for a while.

As I have been saying for 9 months, gun control is a second term program.

Having more gun owners doesn't make me feel any better. A gun owner who doesn't want others to own guns is the worst kind of anti-gun person. There are plenty of these people around, but I digress.

They are afraid they will lose big time in 4 years if they go after guns now. If we are lucky they will leave it mostly alone until then, but, if we leave them in control for another 4 they will go beserk banning anything they can.

Amen. We are living in treacherous, unstable times. We are balanced on a razor blade. We must not fall off the wrong side.

Yep, they haven't changed, I can assure you.

You folks are dreaming if you think this bunch is going to wait til 2014 to ram the 2ndA. They OWN the .gov and we will find out about that real soon. They aren't even going to go through the dramatics like the original AWB and the non-stop media flood to support it. It'll just "happen" and we'll all be left scratching. And I remember watching the "vote" on C-Span in '94 when algore broke the tie. Just like that, $150 Glock mags. At least you could get anything during the ban as before, if you were willing to pay. We may face "shock and awe" this time. Bet on it, and before 2010. Joe

Considering Eric Holder was salivating and rabid over the idea of bringing back the AWB I would say he's not happy.

BELLEVUE, Wash.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Democrat House Speaker Nancy Pelosi on April 7 acknowledged that gun registration is on her agenda, days after Attorney General Eric Holder told reporters in Mexico that the Second Amendment would not “stand in the way” of administration plans to crack down on alleged gun trafficking to Mexico.

“These are alarming remarks from Speaker Pelosi and Attorney General Holder,” said Second Amendment Foundation founder Alan Gottlieb. “It appears that the Obama administration and Capitol Hill anti-gunners have dropped all pretences about their plans for gun owners’ rights, and it looks like the gloves are coming off.”

Pelosi’s revelation came during an interview on ABC’s Good Morning, America. While insisting that Congress “never denied” the gun rights of American Citizens, Pelosi told Roberts, “We want them registered. We don’t want them crossing state lines…” Gottlieb noted that citizens’ rights do not stop at state lines.

“But that doesn’t really matter,” he observed. “History has shown that around the world, registration has always led to confiscation.”

In Mexico, according to the Wall Street Journal, Holder was asked if the administration might encounter constitutional issues as it tries to crack down on alleged gun trafficking. His response: “I don’t think our Second Amendment will stand in the way of efforts we have begun and will expand upon.”

“These comments belie administration promises and Democrat rhetoric that party leaders respect the rights of law-abiding Americans to own the firearm of their choice,” Gottlieb said. “They imposed registration of semi-autos in Pelosi’s California and it led to a ban, but it certainly didn’t disarm criminals, like the convicted felon who killed four Oakland police officers last month. We know from Holder that the Obama administration wants to renew the nationwide ban on such firearms, but that won’t prevent crime, either.

“The administration and Congressional anti-gunners have declared war on gun rights,” Gottlieb said. “The press seems deliberately blind to the statements from Pelosi and Holder, who blame our gun rights for their incompetence in dealing with crime. More than 90 million gun owners haven’t hurt anybody, and they are tired of being treated like criminals.”

The Second Amendment Foundation (www.saf.org) is the nation’s oldest and largest tax-exempt education, research, publishing and legal action group focusing on the Constitutional right and heritage to privately own and possess firearms. Founded in 1974, The Foundation has grown to more than 600,000 members and supporters and conducts many programs designed to better inform the public about the consequences of gun control.

Seen this song and dance to many times.

They will sit and wait for the mid-term 2010 elections, and if the anti's gain or hold ground, they will start in small steps until the 2012 election, and if BO wins a second and final term, the full assault on civil gun rights will begin.

Typically the party in power loses seats in the mid-term elections. Let's just hope the pattern holds.

Are you all nuts? There is not going to be a new AWB, tax on ammo or any other attack on the 2A.

Quick before the feds catch on....Anybody who uses any of the above comments does not know the voting record of the politicians that are currently in the highest powers in our government. Right now it is mostly speculation, but as soon as anything gets put on paper, I am sure that this web site will be shut down from all the hits and people trying to toss in their 2 cents. All we can do is be prepared to stand up for our rights, by that I am not saying we should do anything illegal, but we should write letters, educate the public when we can, I don’t know if protests are the right word but assembling to make our voice more audible and just making our voices as well known as the anti-gunners voice.

In conclusion, soon we will all be drinking that free bubble up and eatin that rainbow stew. There that should throw em off....;)
