Yes that's right- I'm so excited that I can hardly write this. I know this may not be "gun related" directly, but at this point I just want to share. I am leaving Kali for North Carolina. Charlotte area to be specific. Found work out there and will actually be making more than here in Kali! Whew. I've been dreaming of this for some time. The year-round sunshine is not worth it. Trust me. Free America here I come!

The Carolinas are nice. I checked out quite a # of Revolutionary War battlefields this year. So many neat historical sites to see and guns and attitudes towards gun ownership, well, they're much more normal that California is. Congratulations! :)

Wait!! Make sure you vote for Davis' recall before you leave! ;)

Best of luck at you new digs. :)

Hey dude

I did the same thing over ten years ago.....best thing I did.

I grew up in norwalk. We used to go shooting out past riverside in paris by the skydiving school. As I said I moved out here over ten years ago WOW what a culture shock!!!!!!! Things have changed alot in that ten years. As soon as people saw those California plates on my jeep....women coverd thier childrens eyes and pulled them indoors:D :D. I live and work in gastonia 13 mile from Charlotte.......So hook up with me as soon as you cross over.

Good Place to live.
Cant go out to the desert like your used to for a shooting day, so out door shooting can be a little more difficult to do.

Glad to hear your coming across!!!!!!!!!!

I left NYC 8 years ago. I had a heart attack and retired. I couldn`t work anymore anyway so moving wasn`t a big deal. I wouldn`t move here if I needed a job. Wages are way too low but a decent pension goes a lot further. I retired 9 years ago and while my expenses have risen, there`s no way I could`ve lived as good back in NY.

It`s good you found work and you`ll probably find you get more bang :D for your buck. I haven`t been to the Carolinas in years but I`m sure you`ll be happy. Just realize there`s a period of adjustment. Good luck and even the one`s who envy you want to read a good success story. It gives them some hope.

Thanks to everyone for the kind posts. I'm sure there will be an adjustment period but cost of living out there should make up for quite a lot.

Oh man! You're right! Probably will miss that vote as it's set for Oct 7th- I would love to see Davis thrown out on his can!

Rusher: Hey thanks for the invite, that sounds great. I'll be sure to drop you a note when I get there-

dinosaur: Thanks for the advice. And yes hope is a good thing;)

Welcome to God's Country!

The Carolinas, that is. I live just down I-85 from Charlotte, about 1 1/4 hours away, in Spartanburg, SC. Decent indoor range in Belmont, NC just off I-85 and in Rock Hill, SC, which is just down I-77.

I left California 6 years ago, now live in NC. I'm not going back to CA, but I'm looking for a new job further west. I'm hoping for ID.

I can recall the feeling when I broke out of Kali-East (A.K.A. Massachusetts) and stepping in to my favorite gun store.
Sales guy placed about 6 pistols on the counter and walked away, left me alone with the hardware......
Ah the gun friendly inter mountain west.

Congrats man, enjoy and try to keep your silly grin from making your jaw hurt....:D

Good for ya! I'm gonna wait for my gig before I move (at least up until 9/2004) but am pretty envious of you....

North Carolina....

Congrats, 2 years ago I bailed out of the PRNJ for Pennsylvania and I couldn't be happier myself. I do feel a bit guilty for leaving a lot of good people behind to carry on the fight though.

Sad to see one more good American leave. Harp on this state all you want, it is a good place to live. We need more good people to move in so we can retake this state. Maybe the whole thing will crumble and all of the loonies will move to better states like Texas, Montana, and any where else you guys think is great. Hey they gotta live somewhere, I might as well hope it isn't here! :neener:
