So I took my second batch of handloads to the range today and I am having more fun than I imagined possible. I am currently loading .357, but reading about the flexibility of the .44 magnum has me eyeing a Ruger Super Blackhawk at my lgs. So am I alone in my sickness here or has anyone else ever bought a gun just so they could reload more? Let's hear it!

Funny you should mention that, I'm looking for something 44 magnum also. I have a few thousand lead gas checked bullets that someone gave me, some brass, a new set of dies, and nothing to shoot it out of!

Yep. One day while gathering 45acp brass at the range, I happened upon some 45LC. Wow! That looks like a fun cartridge.
So I bought a S&W M-25. Eventually, I owned three of them.
I'm down to just one now. :)

Hahahaha....this sickness is much more widespread and contagious than you might think. I buy reloading equipment for a particular caliber before I even have the gun. I then figure, well, I have the dies, may as well get the gun :)

Currently, no, but I have been considering a nice bolt gun to load with .308. All my .308s are semi-auto military rifles...

Normally the opposite way for me.. I'll buy a package deal of used loading equipment and supplies (brass & bullets) and then have to buy the gun to go with it all. I've bought more rifles that way, than any other way.

Exactly, was thinking the same, am looking for other caliber guns to expand my die set, maybe a caliber that isn't as ecomical to shoot with over the couter ammo.

No,not yet. I load for 9mm-38/357 - 45 acp- 45 colt so I stay pretty busy in the platforms I have. They're so much out there in these I stay broke.

Yes, once. It worked out pretty well so I'm sure that I'll do it again. At least that way I don't have to wait for dies and such to come in.

Sure did. A S&W 686 with 6" Barrel. Someone had left a 3# coffee can full of .357 Brass at the range. I took it home and the next day went looking for something to shoot this caliber.

Was one of the finest pistols I've ever owned. The Gunsmith at the Store I bought it from had done a trigger job on it and it was one of the smoothest shooting revolvers I ever owned.

In a fit of stupid I sold it, thinking all I'd ever want in a pistol going forward was a semi-automatic. Sigs and CZ's now occupy space in my safe, alas no 686:banghead:

Yup! I've been collecting .45 Colt and .44 Mag brass for just that reason. Don't have either, nor a real 'need' of either, but they sure look like lots of fun. Hunting...SASS matches...plain ol' fun... :)

Well, I'm looking for a .44 Magnum but it's because I want one. :D

I do have a large box of .40 S&W brass that is incidental bycatch from policing my .45 brass. Though the caliber really holds no fascination for me I've been seriously considering getting a .40 so I'll have an excuse to load it up.

My LGS has a used P944 in the case...:D

I thought it would be cool to shoot .45 acp from a revolver so I bought one. Now I have some .45 AR brass (and the proper shellholder) on order.

I bought my Ruger solely so I could load hot 45 colts. That and where else can you get a grat big gun with a 7.5" barrel that makes that much noise and recoil(when loading ruger only loads) for 400 bucks brand new in box?

I bought my .40 cal dies, bullets, power, primers, and loaded up around 300 rounds before I even bought a .40 Glock 23, cause I know I will buy one soon. I have shot plenty of them through my BILs XDm .40C, just to make sure they work...

I Did To

Guilty as charged iam buying a 500 S&W in the NEF Handi-Rifle because I need it for hunting & i just love loading for the 500 S&W Magnum had a S&W Performance Center 10.5" 500 but that didnt turn out to good had lots of problems just using factory loads the cyclinder kept locking up sent it back to S&W twice for the same problem it happenes the third time sent it back again they fixed it again the screw that holds the cyclinder in place kept breaking & jamming it up but this time i took it & sold it & lost my rear on it paid $1,150 +tax

So at the range I am just like a crow. If it is shines of brass or nickle I add it to the recovered brass bucket. Then when I have 500 or so empties I get the dies and such. After reloading a series of test ammo I go and find a firearm to shoot it in.:D HOO-BOY am I a sicko.:banghead:
