All has anyone ever forgotten they were carrying?

I ask because I did this a few days ago. I had been at the range the day before and put my Keltec P-32 in the pocket of my sweater (more like a zip up fleece but you get the picture) I then drove home, went out to eat, went to the store, went out to coffee all with mouse gun in my pocket. I realized I was carrying after I got home and put my keys in my sweater pocket.

The question is has anyone ever forgotten they had a gun on them??

All the time. By that I don't mean I actually forgot to put on my carry piece, like my underwear it's another item I never leave home without. By all the time I mean that my Carry PIece has become so much a part of my daily routine, I don't even think about it it until some event disturbs my state of peace and brings me back to condition RED. After the event has passed, I remind myself how lucky I am to live in a state where I can carry, enabling me to accept responsibility for the safety of my family and of course, myself

I have forgotten about my being armed to the point where I sometimes walkl into the Courthouse, or the local Post Office armed. Not smart but then again, Concealed means Concealed.

Yes, I forget I am carrying about half the time.

I have also been playing around in the desert wearing a handgun. Returned to town and went on about my business and forgot I was wearing a handgun. Nobody noticed.

Yeah all the time, thanks to Kel-tec. Its so slim and comfortable to put in my pocket I get used to it and forget. I will reach into my pocket to get my wallet and be surprised when I grab the gun. Its sort of like going down to the bank and seeing the guards are still on duty even though you werent watching them.

I have a secret fear of going to pay for something and pulling the gun out instead of the wallet lol robber.

Forget? No not really as such. But I make it a habit to carry 16/7 and so in a sense being always armed I could forget. Only tho in way I might forget my wristwatch is there - until I go to peek at it and of course - get the time of day.

One reason I preach full time carry is - this is like a wrist watch - it should (must) be there regardless. It is not enough to ''wonder'' in a crisis ... ''is it there or not'' - it MUST be there. No use reaching for it to find - oops - forgot to carry!

I am actually aware all the time it is there - it has become a constant companion and so I am also aware of need for checking of concealment - well, when out anyways. Plus - I carry largest I can - that helps too - to avoid ''forgetting''!!

I wouldnt say that I forget, just part of my day.

I have been halfway through the courthouse parking lot only to have to go back to the car, Concealed means Concealed doesnt cut it, they have metal detectors, and since I work in sheetmetal I dont get along with them very well.

After nearly 38 years, it's almost just a piece of jewelry. But you don't forget. Or at least I don't....

(If you're carrying a mouse gun, though, I suppose it's possible. Get something bigger.... )

Note that my regular carry is one of three large semi's or a PPK/S, which is also a little heavy. On the rare occasion that I carry a mouse gun, I mostly notice that I'm not carrying a Commander-sized gun.

My current "carry", as I don't have a CCW and am limited to private property use, is a J-frame in an uncle mike's OWB paddle.

It's so light and so secure that I almost left with it on my hip once... completely forgot it was there. Heh, can't leave with it on till I've got my little slip of government approval...

It's hard to describe. I knowingly carry, every single living moment outside my home, but I'm accustomed to it and don't physically sense it.

What I do notice, is if my gun comes off. Such as when I put it under the seat to go into the Post Office. I often stand in the lineup and wonder why I feel so different..................and naked.

with the SW642 IWB or the keltoy in the pocket, its not constantly on my mind, but its hardly if at all noticeable physically.

If you "forget" that you are carrying, then you need more training. The point of carrying, or concealed weapon carry, is to be prepared and not be a sheep. If you can go about your business and forget that the gun is there, then what are you going to do if you get into a situation where you need it? "forget that you are carrying"? I would give second thoughts to why you are carrying and perhaps get some more training to keep the fact that you choose to carry and the reason's why you carry a weapon are more top of mind.

Deez.

Don't forget

I don't forget that I carry, but sometimes I forget to leave it in the car or at home when going to certain places. Lol, one time, I walked into a Schlotskey's and didn't realize they sold liquer. I'm sure that if anyone was watching it would have been funny to see me slowly adjusting from CCW to open carry. :what:

I've accidentally carried a knife into my high school a few times- With all this zero tolerance crap, I'm glad I wasn't caught.

Looks like Robert Blake / Beretta forgot he was carrying to.See the can of worms that opened up.
