I make sure garage is locked & secure, check other doors as well & I turn on a pool alarm I have which acts as a motion detector in the back yard.
Beside, is a USP and 5 paces away is 12 ga. shotgun.

Set the coffee maker
Meds - - Insulin and a few pills
Get glass of water and current book
Check door locks
Lights - - Down hall ON, Bedside ON, others OFF
Bedside pistol stays there, unless the grand daughters come to visit. If they have, reload and put it back.

- say nighty-night to dog & significant other
- hang the giant styrofoam Z mobile above bed

- Check apartment door is locked.
- Get water bottle for bedside table.
- Lock bedroom door.
- Check steel locker is open.
- Set alarm clocks.
- Check mobile phone.
- Check knife and OC is on bedside table.
- Drink some water.
- Switch off the lights.
- Pray.
- Sleep.
