I bought an NYPD issued Glock 19 Gen 2 a few weeks ago. I carried one just like it on that job, but I sold it years ago. Good gun, but Glocks just weren’t always my thing.

I see a Gen 2 Glock 19 on the auction site billed as NYPD issue. Serial number is 150 away from my old one. Surely the same Academy class. A call to Glock confirmed that. Same ship date as my old gun and both went to the NYPD. I bought it. It’s the closest I’m gonna get to getting my old gun back.

Gun was in good shape, but at 28 years of age and firing a steady diet of Gold Dot +P for qualification and carry, I figured it could use a once over. It needed new night sights anyway, so back to Glock it went.

It arrived on 12/22. They called me on 12/22 to discuss it and I got it back in my hands today, 12/24.

Virtually every internal component was replaced. Springs, extractor, trigger group, slide lock, striker, firing pin, recoil rod, even the striker plate. Shipped back in a factory Glock pistol case. Other than the $16 it cost me to ship it, and the $106 for the new Ameriglo night sights, cost was zero dollars.

Bought mostly for nostalgia. Probably won’t carry it much, but it’s factory fresh and ready for another 30 years. Excellent service, without a doubt.

Unless the gun was obviously abused, I haven’t had one person I personally know who has had a bad experience with Glock customer service. I’ve seen them respring and even rebuild stock guns like yours at Glock sponsored shoots (GSSF) for free, every time I’ve sent in a query about a work gun they’ve supplied parts and stood behind their products and over the years all the guys who have cracked frames or broken magazines while trying to take them apart gave gotten replacements gratis.

Much like Ruger, whether you love their guns or hate their guns; Glocks corporate response to addressing customer issues is truly first rate.

Stay safe.

I wore out a G19. After 30k plus rounds, the spring at the back of the crucifix wore through the plastic causing it the trigger to not reset reliably. I FedExed it to Glock on a Friday, I got a call Monday from a technician that had diagnosed the issue (I thought it was something else). They replaced all the internals and had it back to me in under a week. You can't complain about their customer service!

I like Glock but don’t carry or range time with it. It’s just REALLY boring, and I have a bunch of glocks. But, if I was to ever SHTF…. GLOCK all day
