I've been interested in adding a free-float handguard to my Colt 6920, and the Vltor CASV-EL has caught my eye. Unfortunately, I've not seen any of these in actual use. Still, I like the look, as well as the simple installation requiring no permanent changes to my rifle. Does anyone here have real-world experience with these? BTW, I know that CASV handguards will raise the overall rail height, but that will not be a real concern for my purposes. I also know that my current Larue BUIS will still fit. Thanks!

I had one for years, and recently sold it. It worked fine, and there is room behind the rail for the BUIS. I had to remove the spacer block on the ARMS mount on the ML2 Aimpoint to co-witness. Wonderful forearm, I have gone back to basic Magpul in an effort to get as simple as possible. I highly recommend it.

Thanks, Doug. I sense (and the lack of any other response shows this, I think) that CASV handguards are not all that popular. I understand that they're a bit different from most handguards, but you'd think they would get some cred for being bona fide Navy EOD gear. Maybe if they had a little anchor etched on the side like those Navy Sig P226 pistols.

VLTOR was blowing those out at the SAR west show for $100.

Apparently, they have a new type out that they were making room fer.
