Explain to me how Glock barrel fit can cause misfires

I have a G3 G23C and can't remember any misfires with OEM or Storm Lake barrels.

I got an AIM surplus 40/9 conversion barrel a few months ago and posted about it; the slide seems to stay back a tiny bit further than with the OEM barrel. The lockup test and everything appears to be copacetic. it shoots okay (POI is a little low and left compared to OEM) but I get BTF and even cases going left. I haven't tried a 9mm extractor.

Last night I shot a couple mags and I had a misfire with S&B ball and with Magtech ball. Both primers had strikes but were obviously not firm enough to ignite, and both went off upon rechambering and re-strike.

Thoughts? Fluke?

I know very little about Glock's, but my first inclination would not be your barrel, but rather your striker/striker channel needs to be cleaned.

Even if the chamber in the barrel was cut wrong, the extractor should be holding the case firmly enough to the breech face to ensure reliable ignition of the primer. I agree with JTQ. Check the striker channel for dirt/debris/powder reside and think about replacing the striker spring if it's old.

firing out of battery means the barrel is not fully pushed up into battery. This misaligns the case/primer relative to the firing pin, thus firing pin strikes on the primer are off center. check the location of the firing pin strike on the 'good' ammo versus ones that have misfired. if the misfires have a firing pin dent in the same place as your good ammo, then it's not an out of battery thing, it's a dirty firing pin channel or weak firing pin spring problem. Also, out of battery hits will be way high since the barrel is pointing high if not in battery.

Could the disconnector or FP block be slightly dragging due to a marginal Out of Battery condition?

But, blowing out a FP channel never hurt nuffin', and it's good for your soul.

I suppose it's possible. The barrel is in 100% lockup with the slide but maybe the fact that the specs are off and everything is back farther than it should be is jacking it up. I shot multiple mags with zero issues the first time I tried it.

The first barrel took too much force to get into lockup so they swapped it for this one. It goes into lockup with minimal pressure and cycles fine.
