Hey All, I have a question. I have a current model n frame that has some runout on the extractor rod. The gun functions fine it’s just this excessive runout doesn’t lend itself to a consistant trigger pull. The first two or three cycles the trigger pull is slick as a whistle then the next three pulls it seems to bind during the cycle. Not enough to cause a malfunction of any sort but enough that the pull is noticeably harder to cycle.
Spinning the cylinder shows that the extractor rod seems to be slightly off center, but the cylinder itself spins true. Also there’s some shake in the extractor rod itself. Meaning, with the cylinder open, you can wiggle it in the yoke. The rod is screwed in tight but the wiggle and runout is there.
I thought about calling S&W about this but since the gun is functioning, they would probably consider it in spec.
Is straighting / truing the extractor rod a big deal=major surgery?
Suggestions? Comments?
Thanks a bunch
