gatling guns have multiple barrels that rotate, chain guns don´t necessarily have more barrels than one.

Nice cohorn beercan mortar. How many grains of powder (and what grain) do you use? What are your cans filled with? What distance do you get with what charge?

I tried firing a dirt filled can once (ran out of plaster filled ones). The powder charge blew up the can and it rained dirt all over us. :D

Artillery Days in the desert. See who can hit the car (FULL of tannerite ;) at 5 miles.

I like the idea of full-auto competitions.

Airborne marksmanship (M2HB mounted to your Cesena 182)

Combine model rocketry and RC/airplane industry. Guided Missile competition!

I thought about posting that, but even with massproduced electronics, the idea of intentially crashing 200 dollar toys makes me cringe.

right now I REALLY wish I had a picture of my pneumatic cannon. but since I don't I'll just give you some specs and keep wishing that someone would come up with something more interesting (and practical) that punkin chunkin to use it for.

so me and my best friend were thinking about building another pneumatic cannon the one day after work, we both worked at a swimming pool company at the time. and we spot some extra pipe and fitting that we can (with permission) pirate for out project. so we build our cannon after about a month of cad drawings and dry fitting. so now it has a quick change barrel that is 10 feet long and has a 3 inch bore. it has dual air chambers, each 6 feet long and 6 inches in diameter. it has a 3 inch ball valve that is actuated with a garge door spring. it is extremly fun and cheap to shoot. I put the pressure in the chambers at about 110 psi and the 20 or 24 oz soda bottle filled with stones will break the sound barier (clubsoda22 can vouch for me). I can put a projectile through a car hood with one shot. range is somewhere between 500 and 1100 yards, depending on the projectile.

I wanted to bring it to the THR shoot but figured it might not quite fit in with the other toys, besides that I might have a hard time finding a place to plug in the compressor.

6 or 7 years ago, we had a picnic at our place.

My wife wanted a horseshoe pit set up.

Instead I went to a surplus store and got 4 deactivated grenades and dug holes the prescribed distance apart for horse shoes.

My wife went rabid, but it was too late as the guests were already arriving.

Just about everyone enjoyed playing hand grenades, the only other game besides horseshoes where close counts.

As far as I know, black powder cannon and mortars are not regulated.
Hmmm . . . I remember reading that smokeless powder cannon are not regulated either, unless they take a cartridge. So if you have to load projectile and powder separately, and the projectile contains less than 1/4 ounce of explosive, maybe you're good to go?

Anybody got a source for surplus 16" battleship guns? :neener:
