Faculty reaction to Idaho law permitting carry on campus

Here's a good piece from Inside Higher Ed on faculty response to Idaho's new law permitting carry on state university campuses. The percentage of faculty that opposed the law (at least as reported) is consistent with the perception that most faculty today are politically liberal. The comments are good, too.

This will be an interesting development to follow.

I'm guessing Idaho requires one to be 21 to get a permit? If so this has very little effect.

And regarding open carry as opposed to concealed, this is very telling:

"There's no law in Idaho against showing up to class in a gorilla suit, either," Page said. "I think social stigma and social pressure will solve the problems we face."

I think he is correct there. That is the next challenge we face, getting open carry accepted not just legal.
