i don't know if this is normal but my gas regulater has 7 settings so far so good. but it goes way past 7 one way and way past 1 the other way. several times maybe 3.5 complete revoutions in either direction. is this normal? i figured it would only turn down to one in one direction and 7 in the other direction, bottoming out either way. im not concerned about too little gas as i can just keep opening it up. but im worried too much gas will break something. any thoughts?

Once you dial past full closed or fully open you aren't making any changes, so don't worry. Just set the rifle so that it locks open on an empty mag, then add two clicks and call it good.

yes thats what i was going to do this sat. i just thought it odd that it didn't stop at the #1 or #7. the first time i had it out whoever had it last had the gas plug in upside down so it wasn't getting any gas. i took it home and when i disassembled it i found out that it was in upside down. either they did it to clean it, shoot rifle grenades,(lol) or inadvertently. the gas system was set on #4 before disassembly so i will try this first. so im looking forward to seeing what she will do. it has a very nice trigger & muzzle brake on it. acera i was thinking the same thing, i just wanted to wait to see if i liked the rifle & keep it. i would like to say thanks guys as i do appreciate the help.

it looks like inch, english with a metric imbel geer logo receiver. gas plug reads ga on one side and a on the other.

Does your bolt lock open when you pull the charging handle back on an empty magazine?

heh watch that gas plug...on the ga setting, you will have a nice, pretty, single shot rifle. :) ask me how I know, as well as alot of other folks who got a FAL and then played with the gas plug.

ga stands for grenade launcher...it doesn't allow any gas to be tapped to push the piston back, venting all gas down the barrel to throw that rifle grenade out there.

It sounds like you have a metric gun. What to do is start with the gas system wide open. Insert an empty mag and load one round through the ejection port. Fire and see if the bolt moves. Close the gas regulator two click's and continue this process until you get the bolt to lock open. After the bolt lock's open close the gas regulator two more click's and load 5 rounds in the mag. You should be able to fire them from the mag with no problem's with bolt lock open on the last shot.

thanks everyone i followed your guys advice & looked at the above posted article, i found that it went well. at least as far as the gas setting part, i also found out that i just don't care for the fal series of rifles. im not a hater, for me i just shoot my m1a better. my friend who went with me shot both & prefered the m1a as well. at least i can say that i tried it though.
