^^^isn't it hilarious that some people think their getting an ed brown when they buy a DW.

......not the same thing for less money.

I voted RIA, great gun for the money and you can afford to buy ammo afterwards.

Buy something else if you want resale value. Buy an RIA and you'll have money left over to buy ammo with and I'm betting you'll enjoy shooting it so much you'll never think of selling it. My oldest is over 15,000 rounds -- spent way more on ammo run through it than I did on the pistol.

--wally.

Every time you guys run these 1911 posts, my wallet jumps out of my pocket and hides in the corner ! The last time i saw an Ed Brown pistol, my wallet went to hiding under the bed ! You guys have excellent taste in pistols. Did DW discontinue the CBOB ? If so, any idea why ?

Rock Islands are cast junk. :)
Norchinko or Colt for me. No, it's not bent, just the crappy camera. That photo
big enough for guys?

yes. check out cz's website. it's now called the VBOB (valor bobtail). the stainless one is about $1,500 list, and the finished one is over 2 grand list price.

i would spend a little more and get an actual ed brown, rather than a DW with a couple ed brown parts. (or get a les baer TRS for the same price!)

it's a bold marketing move by DW, pricing their new 1911's in the high end range. pretty dumb if you ask me.

the CBOB was DW's most popular model, and is now only available in CA.....they should have increased production of this model at the same price point.

Have you had a bad experience with an RIA?
If not then your opinion means little to nothing to me.

I voted Springfield as well. I had a minor issue with my TRP and they paid for shipping both ways, and I had my TRP back in 6 working days. On top of that, the people that I dealt with at Springfield were helpful, courteous, and professional. I haven't gotten that kind of CS from anyone else.
STI is ok. I have one of their Trojan 1911s and it runs great, but it seems like they are hit and miss when it comes to answering their emails.

I have a 1974 Stainless Colt Commander that is my safe queen. I also have an older 1991A1 Colt commander that has been reliable.

The pre-WWII Colt 1911A1 commercial models are undoubtedly the finest specimens of the design ever turned out.Not only did they use the best available materials but the artisans at Colt made sure that the final product was perfectly assembled and beautifully finished. Even though the frame to slide fit was much tighter than most 1911's of today the pre war Colt's were smooth as butter. Sadly the average 1911 shooter will never see what the design was supposed to be and how beautiful and flawless it can be when manufactured properly. Today's labor and material costs are just too high for a work of art to be able to compete with the junk that passes for a 1911 at present.

I voted for Springfield. I had a SS one once and it was a nice gun. But, since I don't like 1911s, I sold it. Mine looked exactly like this one:

driver, you are a lucky man if those are yours.

Yep, I'll agree. I am a lucky man, as those beauties are just my 1911 purchases from the last year....

It's going to be tough to top last year - but I'm gonna try.

i would have to say Kimber, and here is why, i have put atleast 7 different models of thier 1911's through there paces maybe more, and i have never had an issue with any of them. ranging from thier least expensive models, to some of thier most expensive.

however i owned a sa mc operator, i basically shot the sights loose and they were about to fall out of the dovetail during one range trip. as well i broke an extractor at the 3,500rd mark. i like 1911's but not enough to keep that one or to carry one. but if i was i would take a kimber.

Dan Wesson is doing very well in the poll. Ed Brown quality at Kimber prices. Hard to beat.

NOT 2010 models. Even though i voted DW, and i own DW... the new ones took a very big leap in price
