favorite copper fouling remover

As a sidenote, I steered clear of foams after giving a Forrest-cleaned barrel an extra run with Robla Solo and getting two blue patches as if it hadn't been cleaned at all. If scrubbing damages the barrel, there's something seriously wrong with your equipment.
Not all foaming bore solvents are the same. I've had really good luck with some, but I've also run across at least one that didn't seem to work at all.

While we are on this topic; is there any merit to the method of letting the bore sit for awhile after patching it out with a patch soaked with Kroil penetrating oil ? The Kroil is harmless to steel and can be left in the bore as long as you want. Then it can be dry patched out and the bore can be cleaned with a copper fouling remover. The theory is that the Kroil loosens copper fouling and allows the copper remover to work better. I never tried this but it sounds like something that may be worth investigating. Anyone out there have any experience with this method?

I have been using Wipe Out. Sure makes the patches blue.

I find that if you stay on top of it Wipe Out is all you need for copper

Here’s a before/after on one of my rifles using only Wipe Out and letting it set for a few hours

If you neglect it you’ll get alternating layers of copper and carbon and getting it clean will become a chore.

yes I like the foam also

which ones worked and didnt work
The one that really surprised me was Hoppes Elite Foaming Bore Cleaner. I had such good luck with the standard Hoppes Elite that I was expecting great things from the Foaming version. Disappointing.

BreakFree's Foaming cleaner works well. I tried Outers and it was good too. Gunslick was ok, but not as good as those two.

If your in a hurry. Boretech eliminator or Hoppes elite. I find the elite also works better on carbon. Not in a hurry Ed's red or Hoppes #9.
I Realy Like the Hoppes Elite , both the cleaner and the lube ... works fairly well and No Stink ... my wife has a nose a blood hound would envy and I can bring a handgun freshly cleaned and lubed with the Elite stuff into the bedroom and not catch any flack from her smelling the gun cleaner and lube ...
but the darn stuff is so freaking expensive ... I wish Hoppe's would come down on the Elite price !
At wally-mart an 8 oz. bottle of cleaner is $25.30 ... a 4 oz. bottle of oil is $15.95 ,, the stuff has always been high priced ... for $25.00 I can mix up a gallon ( one hundred and twenty-eight ounces ) of Ed's Red with acetone ... 128 ounces or 8 ounces ... Hmmm Lets see ... I don't mind sleeping on the sofa for a night or two ... the dog thinks we smell just fine !

I've been using Boretech stuff. You need inert jags and nylon brushes when you use it.

I bought some KG-12 recently. It seems to get the copper out in a hurry, but doesn't turn the patches blue. What gives there?

No ammonia to create the reaction.

The Boretech products don't have ammonia but the patches turn blue with the slightest amount of copper. Even Hoppes #9 will turn blue if extremely fouled and there is no ammonia there either.

Firm believer in cleaning after every outing, whether after one round or 50 to prevent layering. I'm sure that if a rifle is shot until accuracy falls off, it will take a lot more to remove all the fouling.

thanks for the knowledge sharing, I figure monolithic bullets are going to become more and more the norm and I hope to keep ahead of any heavy fouling.

The best thing about copper solvents like Boretech and wipe out, you can plug the barrel and let it sit overnight.

They will not harm the bore of your rifle or pistol.

K-12 and nylon brush. It is non-toxic, unlike other brands that will damage the barrel if left in the barrel too long. I soak the inside of the barrel for two (2) minutes, then run the nylon brush thru about a dozen times. Then run dry patches until clean, then run a drop of oil...easy-peasy and shiny clean
