I like the Smith M649(M38 or M-49).You still have a hammer to shoot S/A if needed. The semi concealed hammer doesn't hang up when pulling it from your coat or pants pocket. It's the best of both worlds.

My 649 is the most accurate snub I've ever owned. I carried it for a number of years until I decided to get something lighter. My "always" gun is now "the beast", my 340SC. It's not quite as accurate as the 649 but it carries a lot easier.

I still have the 649 and it's always available for use,

Well, since I have but one...

I'm going to say this Model 49...(not a true hammerless design)

or...

A true hammerless unit...The Model 40 "Centennial"

I've owned a couple of Taurus CIA's, & recently bought a S&W 642. The CIA is a nicely made revolver. That said, after buying my 642 I no longer own the CIA. The 642 is perfect for the pocket. I may pick up another CIA someday, but if I had to chose one, it would be the S&W 642.

As a 642 owner I know from personal experience how great they are, but after reading this thread, it seems that it is widely considered to be at the top of the list, the predominant pocket/"hammerless" revolver. For someone shopping for a small, light, concealment wheel gun which would work well for not only holster, but pocket carry... I'd say there are a number of "nice" small wheelies, but nothing quite competes with the 642.

Now... I still need to get me one a them 640's also!
