I guess my favorite would have to be this Sig Ultra Compact in .45.

I'd been to several shops looking for a Colt Defender. The one I got this one from didn't have any Defenders either, but I happened to spy this in the case. (If the counter guy had been on the ball, he might have mentioned it.) Weighs about a pound and a half, so is easy to carry, and shoots very well indeed. I was so impressed by it that I picked up a P938 as my first 9mm. I guess I'm a Sig convert.[/QUOTE

I had that same gun. I wish I would of kept it.

That would be my survival kit gun in form of Colt 1911 with tritium sights and 600 lumen light attached to frame rail.

A family heirloom Ruger Standard. Bought new by my older half brother. Story I grew up with is he bought it in 1954 but Ruger website says it wasn't manufactured until 1955, Ruger is probably correct but doesn't matter. Brother hadn't had it long when he had a ND and shot himself in the thigh. He was living with us at the time. Wound wasn't serious but he left it with my dad and never ask for its return. Went back to my Brother when we lost my Dad in 1988 but when I told my Brother I would like to wind up with the gun someday he gave it to me the next time I saw him.

I am 99.9% sure this is the first gun I ever shot when i was probably 3 or 4 years old. Was the home protection firearm for all those years and kept between the mattresses under my Dad.

We lost pretty much everything in a house fire in 1971. Mattresses protected it somewhat but the springs, magazine and original plastic grips had to be replaced also lost a lot of the original finish. Hasn't been refinished, I just treat it with Rusteprufe after use and it seems to be doing just fine

Doesn't get shot much anymore unless we have a family outing that includes shooting. Still shoots great. Doesn't like the lower grain bullets but I normally don't buy them anyway.

I well remember the first Ruger .22 Pistol. The wonderful Colt Woodsman was priced out of country boy's budget. The hardware store was selling the Ruger for around $20 bucks.;)
A USMC Officer and friend of Bill Ruger did us a favor. The Marine gave Bill two captured Japanese Nambu pistols. Mr. Ruger using the Nambu created the Ruger .22 in one night.
Note my "Papa" Nambu as compared to the Ruger.;)

My favorite handgun of all time was a Lew Horton special 3" S&W M24 I bought used in the late 80s and had to sell in 1994 after losing a job. I would buy a replacement but they now cost a fortune. :)

Just this past 2/11 at a local gun show I bought a 1948 vintage low number C prefix S&W M&P. It is in very good shape for a 70 year old firearm and is now my favorite handgun I own. Why? I am not sure. It is not very special as there were untold numbers of them made and it is very plane Jane. To me it has soul that none of my other guns have.

I have different favorites for different reasons, so I picked what I carry, a Series 70 Colt 1911, brushed nickel, Bomar fixed sights, and a Barstow SS barrel. Other than an Ace its my only 1911, and my first. 40+ years.

Would have to be my 3 screw Super Black Hawks.
Bought my first one in "63" new for $85 and change.
It's had thousands of rounds of Elmer's 2400 loads and still tight as the day I bought it.

Heck, every handgun I own is my favorite. I have a small collection of S&W revolvers, a Kimber Pro Carry II, Glock 26, S&W M&P 40, a few Colt revolvers and a High Standard HD. I take turns shooting all of them.

Les Baer Stinger SS .45 ACP.

Best factory trigger I have ever felt in my entire life, shoots straight (boringly precise), and dependable as all hell. Bought new and shot it through its "factory oil" without a single failure. Love this pistol so damned much!

I don't carry it now but I still really like the Colt Diamondback .38 spec. There are a couple more in the safe now, but that one is near and dear to my heart.

Hmmm . . . when it comes to woods bumming, I carry my Colt Woodsman. I have several other .22 pistols, but the Woodsman is my favorite.

For every day carry, my M1911 -- a Kimber Custom Classic -- wins the nod.

And for serious work in the woods, I love my Colt New Service in .45 Colt.

So....I have to break down my favorites into categories:
Revolver - Smith 629
1911 - Colt Delta elite
Polymer - HK P2000 V1 .40cal
Other - HK P7M8
