I still haven’t had the time to try it but from what I’ve read in Handloader and various hunting articles, Accurate No.11FS is supposed to be WC297, the flash suppressed, more stable and better behaved W296. It’s the pistol magnum world’s Jekyll to 296’s Hyde.
They always seem to have a good bit of that 11FS at the store I always bought my powder from, I just may have to pick up a pound and see how it makes things tick....
I have now done a pile of testing with lil gun and cannot recommend it in 357.... the sd/es was 100+ in most loads. Tried every kind of primer and it just wasn't good. May be better in a different cartridge. But have you even checked lil gun
In case it helps anyone, Accurate 4100 and Ramshot Enforcer are the same powder. 4100 is sometimes less expensive by a buck or a fin. Just FYI if availability is an issue.I like HS-6 for near-top-end loads and Ramshot Enforcer for the really hot ones. Magnum primers only. Firm roll crimp always!!!
I have read that article. Hey peeps! I worked up a couple really great Loads with Ramshot Enforcer in 357 Magnum. With 140 grain XTP's in Starline cases and CCI 550 Magnum small pistol primers, I settled on 14.8 grains. With the 158 grain XTP's I ended up with 13.4 grains. Both shot pretty accurately in a Ruger GP-100 with 6" barrel. Primers were somewhat flattened but still had a radius on outer edges.
I only use Mag primers. Many folks don't, as its not an absolute necessity...unless you are loading down. I had some squib loads that could have catastrophic when I first started using Enforcer. Failure to ignite. Not cool.Perhaps magnum primers would provide more consistency with Enforcer
18 grains is listed as max, so you're definitely in the right area, maybe try some at 17.5 and see how your gun likes em!
