Favorite small caliber handgun?

You can still get new barrels for that 1903 and they aren't all that outrageous in price.

Thanks Jar.
Somebody made me aware of that possibility some time back but this gun is still all original parts and I am reluctant to change that. I wouldn't be using that gun for anything as it is one I inherited from my grandfather about 20 years ago and this gun, while slimmer, is both taller and longer than my Astra .380. And, being a prisoner in the Land of Obama (Lincoln), I refuse to pay their exorbitant fees for a CCW.

I do not have a particular favorite but I have enjoyed shooting my 32 caliber and 25 caliber handguns. I have guns in 32 S&W, 32 S&WL, 32 H&R Mag, 327 Fed Mag, 32 ACP and 25 ACP.

The 32 S&W and 25 ACP see the least use but I enjoy shooting the others as frequently as I can.

If I had to pick a favorite, my grandfather carried a Colt 1908 in France during the Great War. So, besides his pistol, I like the Colt 1903 that I have.

Well...in center-fire it'd be a Single Six chambered for .32 H&R....accurate, with plenty of punch with hand cast 100 gr LSWC's. It'll do for coons in the horse feed, stray opossums by the chicken koop...you get the idea...and fun to carry with its light weight.

For .22's I'll go with a S&W Model 18...as accurate as my M41 Smith, but with weight that makes practice perfect for the M19 or M66 I normally carry.

Here are the obligatory pics...the first has both of my SS's...I like the 5-1/2" bbl'd one better for its adj. sights. The 2nd pic is the M18...almost new condition when I bought it...and superbly accurate.
Best Regards, Rod

My favorite a 22lr. is a great little Ruger MKI 6 6/7” Heavy Tapered Target Model. I bought it about 3 years ago as new in the box which also was in new condition. It just balances great in the hand. First when you pick one up it feels a little awkward and lopsided but then you hold it by the grip and bring the sights up and inline with your eyes it is like the Wizard of Oz going from black and white to color. I really don’t miss having the bolt hold open on the side as the safety handles that just fine.

Ruger Standard MK2 - .22LR
CZ-70 - .32 ACP

Just like shooting them, easy to shoot - good trigger practice. I can't really shoot a 9mm or .38 Special as quickly and accurately as either of the small calibers.

Hands down, my favorite small caliber handgun involves the .22 rimfire caliber Ruger Mark pistols. During "normal" business hours, ammunition is plentiful with no worries concerning the gathering of components that are unobtanium during times like these:

Of the under .380 calibers my favorite is the .327 Federal...as it will just about anything. Had a bunch of different ones but now only two left...

S&W Model 53 rebored/rechambered by Jack Huntington...

And a Freedom Arms 97 6.5"...along with a OM .30 Carbine...

Also love the KelTec .32s and have a Walther PP...

I have a real love for and collect small caliber pistols so it would be really hard to pick my overall favorite. If I had to it would be a Walther. Here are a couple of my favorite .25s. A first gen Model 8 circa 1920 and a US made TPH which is quite rare. The PPK is a .22 made in 1965

Although I rarely (if ever) carry them, I've always loved the handguns in calibers such as .22, .25 ACP, .32 ACP, etc. There's just something about the smaller calibers and the history behind them that has always intrigued me. What would you say is your favorite "small" handgun caliber and handgun chambered in it?

NOTE: By "small" I'm referring to handgun calibers with power generally relative to and/or lower than a .380 ACP.

Mine would have to be .32 Smith and Wesson, either Long or Short. Got hooked on it after shooting my grandpa's H&R 732, have loved it ever since.

I have a Seecamp in 25ACP. Love it. I also have a Colt in 25 ACP. It needs some work and the magazine spring is worn out. But looking at getting it worked on. Like you I am kinda fascinated by small guns in small calibers.
