For years I've had an FNP-9 that was my everything gun - bedside, road trip, range, plink, etc. Now that CC is going through in WI, I picked up a G27 to function as a CCW, and I brought my dad's Dan Wesson 357 out of the safe to serve as my bedside gun.

I love plinking with the FNP-9, it's a very comfortable gun and never had a failure in 3 years. (will post pics if anyone wants but it's just stock - nothing fancy). I've been thinking about replacing it with a Browning 1911-22 for a true have-fun gun though; so I guess my point is, what's everyone's favorite plinking or take outdoors and have fun handgun? Anyone have any experience specifically with the 1911-22? Pics if you've got something you're especially proud of.

S&W pre 17, winchester model 74, and WASR 10. The 22's are all I can afford to shoot anymore, but the AK is just a ton of fun

My Remington 597 with satin-stainless finish, wood stock, and bipod. It's hard for me not to go through an entire box of bulk .22 whenever time I take it out.

My Ruger SR9-C, such a soft shooting, accurate pistol. Its easy and a lot of fun to put a lot of rounds downrange.

I guess my G17 would be my funnest (yes, it's a word) plinking pistol. I haven't plinked with it in a while, but it's certainly fun to shoot.

3-way tie between a Browning Buckmark, 1911, and an 1860 "Colt" Army .44 cal.

As this a handgun thread I would have say my favorite .22 target gun is my Ruger MKII Model 512. My favorite .22 plinker would be my Beretta Model 70S. I don't really have a dedicated target gun in a centerfire, so I would go with my customized Colt Combat Commander as my most accurate gun in this category. My most fun (and least expensive), to plink with would have to be my Browning Hi-Power.

handguns, plinking = rimfire 22s for me
(centerfires I think of as for practice other-than-plinking)
my 12 favorites being, in no particular order

High Standard Double Nine LR/WMR
High Standard DA derringer
S&W 622
S&W 63, 4"
S&W 651, 4" WMR
S&W k-17, 6"
S&W k-17, 6"
S&W k-48, 6" WMR
Taurus 96, 6"
Ruger MK-II, 10"
Ruger MK-III, 6 7/8"
AMT Automag II, 6", WMR

target guns, the K-17s and Rugers

I will probably stand pat on that hand, but if I get any more would most likely be a Browning Buckmark

AutoMagIII! I just bought one of them to go along with my Ruger Blackhawk in 30 cal carbine (and the M1 Carbine, of course).

But plinking gun? My Nylon 66 22lr.

I've always thought of plinking as casual .22 cal shooting only with name coming from the noise the round makes when it hits a steel target. So I'd have to say my Ruger Mark II Govt. target Model is my favorite plinking handgun. For rifles - it's my .22 cal CZ452 Ultra Lux with Brno match aperture sights.

Over the years my favorite caliber has been 44 special. I just picked up a pair of 44's, a pair of Taurus model 441's.

now, you know my carry and plinking joys

Morgo = Automag III - Can you say fireball! :what:

Until you posted a picture of yours I had forgotten how much fun they are to shoot. I load a 100gr half jacketed spire point bullet over H110 for a mv of 1652 fps. FIREBALL from the muzzle of a ~6" bbl caused by a round meant for a 19" bbl. Mine was made by IAI and has a bad rap, but this one runs flawlessly and it's wonderfully accurate to boot!

Thanks for the reminder - mine is coming out for a test drive this week.....Doc

"I mean, I guess I sort of like them all."

CZ 97b
CZ 75bd
Henry 22 lever action

I get my Garand and AR out every now and then, more fun to knock down steel plates at the pistol range though.

My Ruger Standard .22. It goes with the range to me EVERY time. Its one of the few guns I own where I can shoot till I'm sick of it and ammo costs never even enter into the back of my mind :).

If I'm going to shoot centerfire, I'm been practicing a lot with my M&P 9L lately.
