I got involved with 2 buddies in a 3 way trade. All of us had something one of the others wanted. No cash traded hands and everyone is as happy as can be. What a perfect deal. Only problem is I want this one too!! Model 624 with 3” Barrel in 44 Special Gorgeous Factory Combat Grips. I love 44 Specials and bet this would be a Hoot to Shoot. Sadly it goes away tomorrow. Doubt I got a chance of buying or trading to keep it. The new owner loves 44 special probably more than me. Just thought I’d share the pictures.

Have you considered fleeing the country with it?
If he wasn't such a good friend, I'd probably just not tell him I have his gun and not answer when he calls looking, but we do a lot of trading, buying and selling guns between us, so I'm going to be a man and say a tearful goodbye to this one. The one great benefit is I will always be able to shoot it anytime I want, so its just about as good as owning.

Oh, well then better scratch that idea. :D

If he's that good of a friend & y'all trade so much, see if he'll give you right of first refusal if he ever sells.

That's what me and my buddies use to do. Sometimes it took awhile but it always worked out great when one of the guns went up for sale.

Honestly I think that gun’s nice enough I’d possibly offer more than market value to have it.

It’s really gorgeous. I really wish S&W would look at their own dang history books to see what a lug should look like.

That's one purdy piece of ordinance. Always loved wood grips on firearms. Might look dumb on an AR but I'd try it if 1) I whittled better and 2) I owned an AR in the first place.
I've never sold any gun I owned. The only ones I'm missing were taken by some orcs in one of two burglaries we suffered. Got the first burglar by some awesome fingerprints he left behind, but he would only admit to the jewelry and camera thefts, not the gun (he only took one).

You can't leave us hanging on this! You have to explain the entire deal, who had what and who ended up with what? Enquiring minds want to know, or at least I do lol.

The three guns involved in the trade were the 624 posted above, a Model 29-2 with S Prefix with a 6.5" Barrel and a Model 66 NIB 2.5" with factory Target Trigger, Hammer and Target Round Butt Grips. I previously owned the 66 but let one of my buddies talk me out of it and hated myself ever since. He wanted the 624 that buddy number 2 had and I had the 6.5" Model 29 that buddy number 2 had been trying to buy for a short while. Very simple. I think all of the guns valued close to each other in the $1200 range give or take a $100, so I have my 66 back and the other 2 guys have the one they want. Everyone is happy.

Tompall Glaser sang a Shel Silverstein song called"Musical chairs" that's a perfect song for this situation...the chorus goes; "Musical Chairs, Musical Chairs, they've got mine, and I've got theirs. Everybody shares and nobody cares, in this game of Musical Chairs."

Those 624 Lew Horton Specials were really, really great guns when they were cataloged, I'd love to have one in my stable!

Thanks for the picture, it's a beauty

Nice to hear that everything worked out as well as it did for all of the parties involved!

I came across one at a gun show recently. It immediately caught my eye. So did the guy’s asking price. $1800
