Fed up with MidwayUSA

I am guilty of this but we need to stop getting every single thing from Amazon because they are a bit cheaper. When they decide that they no longer want to have anything to do with guns and drop everything related then what? I have purchased from Midway and will continue to do so. Yes they may be higher on some items than others but they also didn't raise the prices like CTD did on high cap mags. They have given over $9 Million to the NRA and other organizations and support the 2nd amendment. You think Amazon is going to do that?

It's really a waste of energy getting mad about shipping prices. It's not personal.

Shop around, buy where you think you will get good service and price.

I still use Midway a fair amount, and they are usually competitive on price/shipping unless you only need one thing. I have a "Next Midway Order" folder in my bookmarks for the little things to add onto larger orders. That doesn't mean they will be ordered from Midway all the time, but it is a handy way to help me remember little things like a new 3 pack of shell plate springs for the LNL.

I really like the ability to contribute to the NRA on orders, and I always take advantage of it. I wish more companies did it. A few pennies here and there really adds up for the cause.

Shop around, don't get mad, it hurts no one but you. Don't let something like a shipping price steal your joy. :)

I dont have to lean on my background in logistics to see that carrier A delivering a pkg to carrier B before delivering to the customer makes the potential for screw ups that much greater.

I always cut up with the UPS lady at the desk at the hub and she says they have major problems with the current setup with the post office. Surely their is an advantage somewhere-I get the feeling it's not for the customer though.

I still buy from Midway though. Its not a deal breaker.

I kind of agree with you on the shipping thing. Seems a lot of people are going to this method lately and in some cases I have paid more for shipping than I have for the actual purchased item. I find that ridiculous and not instead of getting hasty and purchasing things one at a time I try and wait until I am going to order several things. However, with things like ammo this is problematic because you cannot always wait or it will be gone.

The biggest beef I have with Midway though is not their shipping at all, its the fact that the past several items I have ordered from them such as an optic, a railed handguard, etc. were all sold as new but clearly were used and placed back in the package. In fact, they were quite beat up when they got to me. I am all about using your gear but when I buy it new I expect it to be new and me be the one to put the marks and scratches on it. You know what I am saying? I never pursued anything with it as I had read that it would not do any good. I just decided that i would not order anything else from them.

I ordered a bunch of stuff (over $1500) off of Midway this month, and it all arrived timely. Heck I ordered something the Friday before Christmas and it arrived the next Monday, and I ordered something on Christmas Eve (about 11 PM) and it arrived on Thursday. I'm certainly not going to complain about THAT.

The variety of stuff they carry makes Midway the clear winner 99% of the time. Whether I'm looking for an AR-15 bit or bullets or casting lube or NRA highpower targets, they've got it all right there, and it's normally in stock and ready to go out the door.

My only gripe with Midway right now is my favorite long range bullets are Sierra 220Gr matchkings, and the backorder is showing an ETA of 4/8/2014! But.. can't blame them for that. :)

My UPS drivers are always the worst. My Postal Service carrier has always gone above and beyond.

I have the opposite experience. My USPS guy is a contract carrier and is terrible. On the other hand, I have no problems with UPS.

I guess it depends on your local service.

I'm currently waiting for delivery of a small order made at Midway on 12/20. Unfortunately it's SmartPost, which is anything but. It has been in "South Jersey" since 12/26 and yet to move. I know Midway isn't responsible for the postal service, but their use (and many other vendors) of this lousy shipping method will result in my taking my business elsewhere. Whether UPS or Fedex, it consistently adds days to the delivery of my packages.

One has to look at the total cost when ordering. Many times Midway has the cheapest price on goods(reloading components a a good example) but the highest shipping costs. Graf and Son on the other hand claims to have free shipping with a flat $6.95 handling charge. But when you look at the price of components, their higher prices can mean Midway is the cheaper way to go....or there is no difference. Then it comes down to customer service, availability and what your stuff looks like when it gets to your house. Used to be Midway offered reloading components at sale prices at varied timed of the year. This is when I would generally stock up. Haven't seen that hardly for a coupla years. So I shop around. Put my items in carts on several web-sites and see what the total is for each. If there's a difference I go with what's the cheapest. If there's no or very little difference, I go with the one that gets my bullets to me with the box in one piece and/or the one that has shown me to be the most concerned when I am not happy with my order.

That's assuming Grafs has anything you want in stock. They rarely do in my experience.

UPS stuff I get in a day or two, USPS takes a week coming from the same location

They're billions upon billions in debt, and counting, and asking for a govt handout. Wonder why they're cheaper?

edit: Growing to $45,000,000,000 in debt by 2017 according to this in Feb
http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2013-...ay-hit-45-billion-unless-u-s-changes-law.html

They are billions in debt because Congress passed a law requiring the Postal Service to pre-fund their pension liabilities for 100 years (something no business could afford to do, much less the USPS).

I have also shied away from Midway because of their shipping costs. UPS charges a ridiculous amount for small items.

I like Midway, I just don't order from them anymore because of the shipping policies and prices. If they have something nobody else does and I NEED it, I'll order it. Otherwise, I can usually find a way to get the same product to my door for less. Larry, are you listening??

I was going to mention that too.

I don't want to derail the thread so for those that care but don't know... here's a couple good articles.
