There is some foreign mil surp that is corrosive. But all that means is that it leaves salt in the barrel. Give the gun a good cleaning with boiling water, then a normal cleaning and oiling and you're all set. DO your PMCS regularly and you have nothing to worry about.
I ordered a thousand rounds of Federal American Eagle from Ammoman.com
It is the cleanest, shiniest ammunition I've EVER bought. 500 rounds of 55gr FMJ and 500 rounds of 50gr (tiny) hollow point. The hollow point is the most accurate. My wife, who loves (and has stolen) my AR-15, was amazed by this little fact.
(I mean~just what was I going to do? She hands me a brand new Marlin 1894C...and quietly goes to my safe, steals the Bushmaster, and puts it in HER OWN safe. ) There's no good answer here. (Unless, I want to start breathing through a scab! Self defense/hand to hand classes for your wife = a viciously quick punch to the nose!<shudder>)
