I read how some reloaders have their issues with Federal Primers but they sure are a joy to seat....

With Winchester and CCI I grab the other side of my press and brace myself so my chair doesn't roll as I'm trying to seat 'em...heh

They better be easy to seat as soft as they are. I never noticed much difference for me on my Lee classic turret. The brass seems to make more of a difference with the primer seating, for me at least.

The Federals are the pick of any revolver shooter for matches. I have never seen any big deal for auto pistol loads. If I can't get Feds I use Winchesters for my PPC loads. Back in the 70's CCI were very hard to set off and we avoided them like the plague. They are much easier to use now but I still stay with the other two brands 95% of the time.

For pistols with lightened hammer/mainsprings, the Fed spp is the go-to primer to avoid light strikes. They use a different/older primer formula that ignites with softer hits.
Federal primers use aluminum spagnate priming compound. Other manufacturer uses lead styphnate.
