FedEx under fire for NRA discounts as activists, Florida students press boycott; company says no changing coming

The Memphis-based delivery giant was one of the largest and most recognizable companies that hadn't pulled back from the NRA in the wake of a Valentine’s Day mass shooting at a Florida high school.

After days of questions about whether it would join the other companies, FedEx issued a statement Monday signaling no change in the discount program.

This was good to see!

While they made a statement that was kind of weak, about how they oppose civilians carrying assault weapons. At least they remain on course with the NRA affiliates .

I was going to bring this up, but looks like someone beat me to it. I received this email today. I like to keep tabs on what "the other side" is up to.

I was curious how this would play out with all the FFL's shipping of firearms and related products.

FedEx: End your partnership with the NRA

Dear MoveOn member,

FedEx should not be giving the National Rifle Association (NRA) credibility and special treatment.

Sign and share the petition demanding that FedEx stop its immoral business alliance with the NRA.

Stop the immoral business alliance with the NRA. Join other corporations in putting the NRA on notice that it's time for a change.

FedEx, along with other corporations, has partnership agreements with the NRA to provide service discounts to its members. This acts as a sign-up incentive for new subscribers. The NRA currently has over 5 million members who currently pay $40 annually for that status.1

The NRA has lobbied lawmakers consistently and successfully against any meaningful restrictions on the sale of military-style assault weapons to civilians. They have put gun industry profits above people and principle. The millions of dollars they funnel into the campaigns of lawmakers to protect their interests ensure that commonsense gun legislation remains elusive.

It's time the NRA is put on notice that the time for change is here. They should not be given credibility through alliances with corporations such as FedEx.

Click here to add your name to this petition, and then pass it along to your friends.

Thanks!

I never knew there was an NRA discount for Fedex, even though I have shipped guns with them before. How much is the discount and does it apply to gun shipments?

As it was reported on the AM news here, this is a mixed bag. FedEx supports the NRA and the 2nd amendment BUT FedEx is against civilian ownership of AR style rifles.

Yep, that was mentioned in the link. Like an appeasement to the antis. But they could have caved all the way like others have.
