I am thinking about buying a P239 in 9mm for concealed carry. I would appreciate any feedback from anyone who either owns or has fired this gun.

Should I buy one, if not, what would you receommend?

The Sig P239 is a great gun and you cannot go wrong with it. It would be helpful to know more about what you want the gun for in order for people to more adequately respond.

The 239 is my carry weapon 90% of the time. I bought a 239 in .40 the year they were introduced. I've since added a .357Sig barrel and mags and now carry that. Mine is the 2 tone version and has well over 2000 rounds through it with never a malfunction. It is my favorite handgun, no question.

I carry 1911's every once and a while, and a very occasional revolver. The 239 is always my 'go to' weapon.

Now, if you are not looking for a carry weapon, maybe a larger frame size is more in line, but for a carry fiearm it wins hands down.

I like mine a lot. Even better than my P225. It is slightly more accurate for some reason and I like the thinner profile.

I love mine!

Right now my P239 in 9MM is my favorite carry piece, mostly because it is smaller, slimmer and lighter than my P229 in .40. I can also shoot the p239 just as well as the P229 as far as accuracy and a bit faster in "double tap" mode. Mine has about 2500 rounds through it and has never had even one hic-up.

I want several more pistols...SIG and others, and some of them will no doubt be for "carry", but the new pistols will have to do every thing as well or better than the p239 does right now in order to get the ride in the holster.

Get one if you have the means you will not be let Down.

P.S. Get the houge finger groove grips ...they make a great little gun better!

I have a P239 .40 with .357 SIG conversion barrels and it has never missed a beat. It is more accurate then it has a right to be. Spectacular carry gun.

I have one in 9mm. It's great. Accurate and utterly reliable. But it would not be and is not my first choice for ccw. It is a bit bulkier than some other offerings. But that's just me. You might want to check weight and dimensions and make certain you're happy with the size before you buy.

I liked the one I picked up in .357 so much it's replaced the P7.

I'm not sure there is any greater praise - not from me, anyway.
:)

I have one. When I was trying to decide between the 239 and a Glock 19, most of my buddies told me I'd be happier with the Sig. So I went to a gunshow and found a new one. Probably has 700-800 rounds through it. I carried it a while, then bought the 19 which has seen lots of use since then.

My 239 is plenty accurate and has been 100% from round one. I'm not planning on getting rid of it, but it's hasn't been out of the safe in years. The reason I don't carry it is because, while it is pretty flat, it's just not as efficient size and capacity wise as a Glock 19 or 26. Also, the grips crowd my hands a bit. I probably would have been happier with a 225.

What SouthpawShootr said.

I went through the same reasoning recently. Put a P239 next to a Glock 19 or 26. Then after comparing the dimensions, compare capacity, price and more importantly how do they feel and shoot. Try them all if you can rent them at a local range. I'm still not sure exactly what you are after but this does give you food for thought.

The Sig will give you second strike capability, the Glock is more size efficient.

If you end up with the P239 or end up with a Glock you are not making a mistake.

I recently went thru a similar situation myself. I was looking for a CCW gun and I narrowed it down to a SIG P239 or a HK USP Compact. The SIG's, and the HK's for that matter are both top notch weapons and you won't go wrong with anything with their name on it. For me it came down to the feel in the hand and ergonomics of the controls. I ended up with the HK because the controls worked better for my hand than that of the SIG. I say try it in your hand and if it fits, go for it!

I have a 239. It doesn't fit my hand right and I never carry it. I'd sell it, but I wind up using it a training gun now. Nice gun, but make sure it fits before you buy it. The distance from the front of the trigger to the back of the grip is shorter than on other guns.

Good points: Great for medium to small hands. Accurate and reliable. Shoots and points wonderfully.

Bad points: Kind of big and heavy for a single-stack 9mm. Not so good for larger hands.

I loved mine, but traded it for a Glock 26, which I love more.

I bought a NIB 239, sold it a month later. It would not reliably fire the primers of various types of ammo. I was very disappointed, as I had heard so many good things about Sigs.

HKs, Glocks, and Berettas are the only semis I've owned that have been completely reliable.

I really like the P239 in 9mm. It carries like a little gun, but shoots like a full size. At 25 oz., it's a tad heavy for such a small 9mm, but that's an asset when you take 300 rounds of 'whitebox' to the range!

Did you ever have the gun checked by a smith?

I carry a 9mm P239 daily. If it fits your hand and its relative demerits:large for a single stack 9mm and I guess cost vs a S&W 908 or something similar are outweighed by its relative merits:very accurate for a compact CCW pistol, exceptionally well made and reliable then by all means give one a try.I have gorilla mitts and the only thing that I don't like is that the backstrap doesn't fill my palm enough but it doesn't hinder how well I shoot it.My fingers are big enough that a Hogue grip doesn't give my middle finger enough room but many love them of theirs.

I finally got one,but I haven't had a chance to make it to the range yet:banghead: ,but I sure do like everything about it otherwise, fits my hand perfectly, and love the controls:D it's going to make my BHP's really jealous!;)

I really, really like SIGs. At one point or another I have owned all of them (I think) except for the 210 (pricey) and the 230 (but I do have a 232). The 239 and the 245 are the only ones that don't feel really good in my hand. I had a 239 and carried it for a while but I could never shoot it well. It just didn't fit my hand at all.

I much prefer the 225, which is about the same frame size as the 228/229 except it is a single stack. I never noticed any difficulty carrying the 225 instead of the 239, and I shoot a ton better with it.

If I carry a 9mm these days it's a P7, but you can't go wrong with any of the SIGs. As others have mentioned, try and shoot it before you buy it.

No, I never did have it looked at. I traded it. I told the guy when I traded it about the ammo issue. He acted like he would fix it himself, so I wasn't too concerned.

Bought a P220 about 8 months ago. Absolutely loved it. Got to thinking about the 239 in sig357 I fired about 2 yrs. ago. Since the P220 is full size, I felt I'd give packing a 239 a try.

I put 50 rounds through it. My hand on it feels a little weird since my hand is large, but I shoot it just fine with the 40 caliber (the 357 barrel will have to wait).

Since I'm too busy to make a holster for it, I discovered the EL PASO SADDLERY holster I bought for the 629 does work (IWB crossdraw). It packs better than anything I have ever packed before given equal lethallity.

I'm very happy with it to say the least. It is my favorite CCW. I still carry a 638 as a back up because the transition from revolver to auto will be very slow for me. With one in the chamber, seven in the magazine, and three more magazines of 40, I feel very well armed.

SIG P239? Go fo it -

I like mine alot (9mm). I carry it fairly regularly, and as a typical SIG, it's been thoroughly reliable and accurate, and only gets better with use. I've owned 5 SIGs (all 9's), still have the 226, 228, and 239. Got rid of the 232 (foolishly), and 225 when the AWB ended. I liked the 225, but the 239 is slightly smaler and easier to conceal, and the 228's higher capacity kind of obviated it for me. I have fairly big hands, but I shoot the 239 about as well as the 226/228, not to brag, but I love a pistol that makes me look good at the range.:D
