I have a Glock 36 I purchased 4-6 years ago. I had an issue with the firearm and sent it back to Glock for repair. They replaced the barrel with a stock barrel. In replacing the barrel, they also replaced the recoil spring.

I shoot reloads and test fired the firearm. My reloads are 230 grn FMJs. I carry this firearm all the time. For defense I loaded it up with Federal 230 grn Hydrashock. I know I tested the Federals several years ago and there were no feeding issues.

Now, the Federals won't feed. They basically jam on the bottom of the feed ramp. I initially thought it may be a mag issue. I have 3 glock mags and tried them all. Same issue with every round. To clear I need to pull the mag. They will not feed even if I manually cycle the action.

For now I switched to some Hornady 185 CDs. They cycle and shoot and just fine. What changed?

My thought would be the shape and slope of the feed ramp. Was the barrel they took out also a stock one? Or had you replaced it already? The key here would be to load up a couple 230 sized cases with just bullets and see where they hit and adjust the OAL to feed if it were me. Or the feed ramp could be modified/polished to feed your factory ammo first then match the reloads to it. Polishing a feedramp is not that hard IF you know what you are doing----If not paying for it is good advice.

The first one was the original stock barrel. I purchased this pistol within months after they came out. Serial no.<1000. In the meantime I spoke with Glock about the repair. Basically everything internal was replaced, not just the barrel and recoil spring.

The pistol runs fine. I reload 230 grn ball for practice, and there are no issues with that round. I have not previously reloaded SD rounds for this pistol. With the cost of factory SD ammo now at plus $1.25 per round, I'm going to start. So, your advice is well taken.

I was just surprised that now I have a feeding issue where none existed before. However, I now know that I essentially have a new pistol. BTW Glock customer service was outstanding and timely.

Thanks for the advice.

I'm pretty sure that Glock test fired the pistol with factory ammo, try that and see if the problem still persists.

shoot safe, shoot straight, and have fun

Good to try sd ammo

They probably test with ball ammo at the factory, and your sd ammo is hp, that could be the difference.

I thought it was a little silly to function test with my sd ammo since it is premium and expensive, but I found the rubber tip sd ammo can be a real problem because the rubber tip grabs in the mag and gun...thank goodness I tested it before I needed it.
