I got a fair deal on a Nikon P308 for the rig I am building. Rem 700. I kwow Rem seems to have a bit of a slipped rep as of late but this seems to be a nice scope for the 200 dollar mark.

I have a P223 3-9 and a M223 4-12. Shooting them back to back I don't notice an real difference in the glass of the two, at least in daylight at the range.

I mention this because I have a couple of M308 4-16 and think they have very good glass. If the comparison between the P and M 223 holds, I think that would be an excellent scope at that price point.

The M series is definitely better glass and will prove it in tougher conditions, but I think the P series is good glass for the money.

I liked my P223 3X so much I bought another one. I love the compact design. That said, under the shade of tall trees, it leaves a bit to be desired on brightness, while out in the open sun it is fine. Not bad, just not real bright in the shade.

I also have a P-223 1x4, and was happy with it, but gave it to my son.

If you need a brighter image in tougher conditions, the M series is worth the money.

IMHO of course. :)

Not sure if they still do, but my M308 came with the M308 XR mount. They were Re-con from Natchez for $375 I think. Had flip up caps too. When you figure the $75 cost of the mount the two get closer in price.

I have a P308 and so far have been very happy with it. However, I have only fired about 100 rounds with it mounted so I cannot comment on it's durability just yet.

I have the M308. Took around 200 rounds through my M1A before the reticle started rotating inside the housing. Nikon replaced it at no charge. It now sits on my sporterized 1903A3

My feelings? It's not bad, but it will probably be my last
