I already have two...a Colt 6920 and a Smith & Wesson M&P.

This new one was my sons, he decided to sell it but didn't want it to get "away from him"...LOL...he needed some $$$...anyway it is a Sig 516, by all accounts is a good rifle, has never given any trouble. I gave him $1,000 for the rifle and 7 Pmags...I wasn't looking for another AR, but he called and offered it to me for that with the condition that I couldn't turn around and sell it, LOL.

I'm thinking about making it into a varmint rig by getting a RRA Predator Pursuit EOP upper for it (20" ). I know the wait for the upper will be long, but I'm not really in a hurry anyway.

That upper and a decent scope...and I should be ready for war on varmints.

One more AR is a good thing. Never can have to many. After you buy that new upper you well need a lower for the old upper. You have started down a slippery sloop...

The Sig 516 is a pretty nice (and expensive) piston-driven AR-15.

If you are just gonna use it for the lower, you might be better off selling the whole rifle for a profit and just buying/building a lower for the RRA varmint upper you want.

If you are buying a complete upper to pin on a lower, it ony takes about 20 minutes to completely put the lower together, I would keep the SIG 516 intact. To really make a good long range varmint gun a good single or double stage trigger needs to be installed anyway, might as well do a lower build. I just got a new 516 a few months back, already my favorite, my other ARs may be on the market. Very short trigger pull and reset on the 516 I have, fair enough flip up sights, really made for optics or reflex sights IMO. Thinking of a Vortex scope, just havent decided which one yet.
If you do use the SIG 516 lower to make a varmint rifle out of it, would it be OK with your son to perhaps sell the complete upper, perhaps to me, send me a PM if you are interested.
One may be able to have too many AR15s, but I do not have enough piston driven ARs, the SIG 516 is a very good rifle.

I really like the newer Sig 551A1 but the mag s are priced so high. Its just a Swiss made AK 47. What i really like about it is the open sights .The rear aligns with the front globe and it s perfectly aligned.

Jed,
I'm not gonna sell it, or any of the parts...I just want a bit more barrel length is the only reason I'm getting the upper...and if my son happens to buy the Sig back, it will fit right on the others just as well.
