My son strayed into the dark side. Convicted felon (NO Contest) probation for 18 mos. Part of the probation conditions, he was subject to no notice inspections of his home. On the intial arrest his firearm collection was confiscated along with numerous household items as security cameras (considered antisurveillance equip).
A no notice inspection of his home while he was at work resulted in confiscation of Cross bow, long bow, khukuris and kabar I had given him as presents over the years. all pocket knives, hunting knives etc, some left over ammo. No confiscation list yet provided. They were allegedly confiscated as dangerous weapons. No kitchen knives were taken.
The Court directed the firearms be transferred to me, but it took 3 amended Court Orders to get the PD to release them. The Judge finally directed the PD/DA to put up a bond double the value of the firearms to insure the firearms were available or pay the price.
I received the firearms last week, another Court order has to be made for the other items confiscated.
I only would see my son once or twice a year, 50 miles apart, as we have had our differences over the last 10 years. But when the request for return of property was made, he asked for the firearms to be given to me, as he could no longer own them.
