I have recieved the go ahead to set up a FCSA authorized experimental staic target match here in Ohio.
The ball is in my court now.

I spoke to the owner of the range this morning. He is out of town on a hunt out west and will return in a week or so. We will set down and hammer out the final details. So far so good, it would appear we are about to be up and running.

We are looking at a match in April, either mid April or the end of the month. We are still working on the format of what we will be shooting. The facility has 20 concrete topped benches and a roofed in shooting area.

Targets can be 600 yard, 1,000 yard and 1,700 yard. The exact format of the match has not been set yet. We are still hammering out the details. The main match will be at least 1,000 yard, We may have some side matches at 600 and 1,700 yards.

The main rule of this match that will be enforced is.....everyone must have a good time.

We will starting a tradition here for the Highly coveted Black feather award as well........Last place! <grin>

April in Ohio means bring your rain gear, not so much for the bench shooters but for the prone shooters and target crew.

Thankyou all for you support, suggestions and insight on problems that has allowed this to move forward.

I can be reached via email at [email protected]

1700 yards?!? Will there be security contracting companies and an instructor from the marine sniper school recuiting as well?? :what:

LOL Well you have to be carefull not to streatch your rifle barrel trying to shoot that far!

It will be held in Coshocton county just outside of the little spot on the map of Plainfield.

The match will be held the last weekend of April. Friday will be the site in day. Saturday and Sunday will be the main match at 1,000 yards. I am sure we will be doing some side matches at the 1,700 yard targets as well as some 600 yard stuff.

We will be shooting this as an authorized experimental static target match.
We normally use pulled targets. So if you have a .50 cal or want to come and watch and perhaps shoot a .50 cal after the match I am sure there are many folks that will be willing to allow you to take a shot or two! :neener:

We shoot 6 targets over a 2 day period per entry, 5 shots per target. I have shot a 5 shot record string of 6 3/4" at 1,000 as well as the first 3 shots in a 1 3/4" group.

We have a ball at these matches. So all are welcome to join us.

Folks,

Here is the scoop on what we have going on.

The match will be held April 27th, 28th and 29th. Friday the 27th will be the sight in day. There will be a fee for shooting on Friday. That is being worked on as we speak. The cost of the 6 target agg 1,000 yard will be $50 per gun entry.

The location is at Thunder Valley Rifle Range, Plainfield, Ohio which is located in Coshocton County.

We will be shooting the same as Waco's match, that means rain or shine, so bring your rain gear or be prepared to have extra dry clothes along!

I have the motel list ready. There is a dog show that same weekend in Coshocton so the motels will be busy.
The match packet is just about ready. All that is needed yet are the directions.

Primative camping will be available as well. There will be some scopes and rings and cleaning supplies that can be purchassed from the range owner as well for those that need them.

For those in a pinch on ammo. I live about 35 minutes from the range and it is possible to bring your components and load some if it is needed.

I will make some arrangments to get us a banquet room for Saturday evening as well. So far so good!
For those of you who are planning on attending our first Autorized Ohio Static target Match please email me for a match packet. [email protected]

This is shaping up pretty good. Time permitting at the end of the relays for the day we can have side matches at 600 yards or 1700 yards. Those will be a 50/50 jackpot with the range.

I can't attend but it sounds very interesting and sound like a lot of fun too. I wish I lived closer so I could come and watch the match!!

What kind of .50 cal. is usually shot at a match like the one you are setting up?

I would expect to see many different makes and models. I am shooting a armalite AR50 with homemade ammo and it just drives tacks. There are many other fine shooting 50 cal rifles.

We are about a month away from the 1,000 yard Ohio match. If you are interested in shooting in our match please feel free to contact me for a match packet. [email protected]

We are shaping up nicely for the match. Gandermountain and the Fin,Feather and Fur have both sponsered our shoot as well by donating prizes. So dust off those .50 cal BMG rifles, breakout the ammo and come join the fun of letting those Big Dawgs bark at 1,000 yards!

Just an FYI to sweeten the pot so to speak!

The grand prize will be for the smallest 6 target AGG group will be a certificate for a Nightforce of your choice at 50% off. This is being provided to me for our shoot from Nightforce for the Grand Prize.
