Ferrari, have you ever even been in a "bad" part of town?
I've driven to White Sox games, and to the University of Chicago which is surrounded by a ghetto. I've seen windows with bars on them, and older people who look afraid to walk to the grocery store. And one night a bunch of friends and I made a very dumb mistake. We were on Rush and Division street where there are dozens of bars, resturants, night clubs, and entertainment. We kept walking west on division street thinking there would be more places to see, until we eneded up in the middle of a ghetto at midnight on saturday on foot. We turned around and walked back.
You would get shot. That simple. And yes, they are stupid enough to shoot at you. A lot. And volume makes up for marksmanship.
If the criminals are that stupid to open fire on lawful citizens walking the public streets, then I would fully expect the whole police force, state police, and whatever other resources they needed to come and clean up the cockroach den. Unlike people who live in the nieghborhood who are afraid to testify, we would have camcorders which will show where the fire came from. I would expect that door to get kicked in, fingerprints to be taken, suspects to be taken in for questioning.
I just can not fathom how the police would turn the victim into the aggressor. Since when is it wrong for lawful citizens to walk the sidewalks, even if the neighborhood is crap?
Or I could just ignore the problem and hope the cancer never comes to my neighborhood.
