After years of haunting the auction sites and not being able to afford a shotgun a buddy of mine set me up with a right nifty 12 ga.
CVA double barrel 12 gauge. Can't wait to pattern it. Turkeys beware.
I just bought one Saturday. It has a slightly smaller bore than my Navy Arms Pietta (.726 and .729 on the CVA - the Pietta mikes at .735). It also has a thin rubber shoulder pad.
My Pietta shoots pretty good. I hope this one is as good. I just loaded it with some 7 1/2 shot an hour ago.
It will be a bit harder to load due to the muzzle constriction. It seems that the thin over-powder wads are the hardest to get in the muzzle without bending and getting them sideways.
However, it will probably shoot better patterns. I use cut off plastic cups to hold the shot and that gives me a tighter pattern.
I am in the process of building one of those right now. It's still in the white but the stock has been done for a year. I can't seem to get cold blue to work on the barrels and I don't know why. :banghead:
