I had an opinion about Kimber 1911s--too little for too much. I had a friend who owned a Custom II and loved it. I shot it several times and it was good for me, but I insisted on sticking with my BHP or Colt 1991A1.
Then I stopped into my usual shop and the owner told me he'd just received a Pro Crimson Carry II. I looked at it and the same old thoughts ran through my head, but then I found out he was willing to let it go for a couple hundred under MSRP. I'd been waiting to trade some older pieces, so now I have the Kimber.
Story aside, for those who own or have owned 4" Kimbers, any suggestions for ammo type? I'll be shooting plenty of standard ball for a while to make sure things are working properly, but any consistent experience with JHP loads that are Kimber friendly?
Any suggestions for aftermarket bits and pieces? I'm already thinking about a new slide release, since I've heard of several problems with those. A new, stiffer recoil spring from Wolff will probably be on the way shortly, as well.
