Nice rifle!

I was going to say mine doesn't have the magazine dimple, but on second look, it does. Does anybody know what it's for anyway?

I didn't know about the tritium either. That's pretty cool.

Here's mine. I trust that you can pick it out. :)

P.S. You need a bayonet! Why? WHY NOT?!

P.P.S. We don't need no steenking recoil pads.

dimples help with magizine fit. If it doesnt have dimples, then it has 'shim' plates instead. Dimples are more or less the authentic AK magwell appearance

The dimples are a cheap way to stabilize the magazine in the mag well.

Nice 50..... AR lower kinda freaked me out.... Kind I get some info on that?

And can you re-stock those under-folders? Like the design, but don't know if I could live with it forever.

The little lever flips up, and you can remove the upper hand guard. This serves as the gas tube which is what pushes the bolt back and chambers another round, yadda yadda....

Just make sure you take it out and give it a good cleaning once in a while, just to ensure reliability.

You can demill it and build another gun.

(long answer: no, an underfolder stays an underfolder unless you've got lots and lots of money and just want to send it down the toilet to get it done. Demilling and rebuilding on a fixed stock receiver is gonna be much much cheaper. Or just buy another Kalashnikov.)

OK, the sights...

The orange on that front sight is from a previous owner, naturally. The front and rear flip-ups did not have tritium vials.

They match my rifle, which has flip-ups that are too thin for the vials.

In Yugo service, those dimples in the flip-ups had some sort of high visability paint. Whether it was glow-in-the-dark type I can't say.

Bart Noir
Who was amazed on how far to the left the front sight went, before it was zeroized at 100 yards.

Bought the same Yugo AK rifle last week it is a high quality AK and Romanians are built like junk.

Other than the ugly wood foregrip on the Romanian AKM, I've never seen any issues with them.

Oh, if you're going to buy any surplus 30 & 40rd magazines, check the floorplate for damage. Soldiers like to use them as monopods. ;)

ok... sorry for the stupid question but..... do the AK's come in full auto and semiauto selector or is it just an AK look alike in semiauto:confused:

For the very vast majority of us, they're semiautomatic.

Romainians are not junk,at least my SAR-1 isn't.It shoots as well as the Norinco and just about any other AK style I have seen.

Just got to hand select.Heard some have issues with the sights but not mine.

Since the Yugos come with a new U.S. made receiver, barrel, synthetic stock, and I also believe FCG, at what point do we stop calling them Yugos?

These two 'holes' used to have tritium vials in them.

Your front sight, did too (the part that flips up)

It was my understanding that some Yugo guns (particularly SKSes) had tritium and some had simple phosphorous night sights. The flip-up sight blade for this AK sample seems to be too thin to hold Tritium vials and are likely phosphorous. Plenty of sources that sell phosphorous paint cheaply.

Well, most all of these kits are of an age where the tritium has reached its half-life and burnt out.

When it reaches it's half life it doesn't just burn out, it is half as bright. Furthermore, it isn't bright one day and dark the next, it is dimming all the time.

I bought me a Choppa I am a soldier now.
Just joking
I bought this Ak a few days ago for $350 after a trade in.

My Romanian Guards parts kit built into a fine rifle:

Nalioth - dangerous having the VZ58 in that same photo. At first I thought you were losing it! (As in, I don't think the Romanians ever made a Czech-only rifle...)

Since the Yugos come with a new U.S. made receiver, barrel, synthetic stock, and I also believe FCG, at what point do we stop calling them Yugos?

Well, in the ATF's view, they're all USA-O's or else the builder is going away-O. (10 foreign parts or less!)
