My Eo Tech 522 arrived yesterday and is now solidly mounted on my La Rue AR 15 (Kaiser Defense lower). I didn't buy this gun for myself but due to circumstances I now own it. Geeze, I'm not even sure I can get it opened up to clean it without some expert help! Next up is to log onto the Midway site and order some cases and bullets, I guess some small rifel primers may help too. Come to think of it, I'd best get some reloading dies and powder if I expect them components to get stuck together and then fire in the gun. YAHOO! New gun and I'm about on my way to the range.

I'll do my best. BTW, I'm not at all familiar with the round. I'm wanting to get a good all around plinker bullet and thought maybe the 55 gr. FMJBT would be just the ticket. Anybody think their favorites would be a better choice?

If you are not loading your own, walmart sells the federal 100 round pack that works pretty well for plinking etc. You are looking at about 40 cents a shot that way.

You can do much better rounds you put together yourself.

You will like the eotech I bet, they are pretty sweet.

This is not based on any science but my own experience but non BT bullets shoot more uniformly for me. Now I am assuming that the LaRue barrel is a 1-7 twist meaning heavier bullets will shoot better than say a 40 grain bullet. So based on that my recommendation will be a 60-69 grain bullet which is aboyt middle of the ground for a 1-7 twist.

Now you guys can prove me wrong with your fancy science!

Sounds like a nice gun you got there. Definitely check out the 69gr hp. My fulton barrel 1/8" wylde chamber gun loves those. (Larue barrels are 1/8 too), but I haven't tried handloading the 55gr fmj yet.

You'll find they are pretty simple to work on, and a lot of fun to shoot.

What the heck?? I click on this thread and see no pictures???

You will like it. Eotechs are quality sights. Not my preference, but good sights nonetheless.
