She picked-out a Taurus 85 Ultra-Lite today after a few years of sitting on the fence about it, and handling many, many revolvers, as she cannot rack a slide on any caliber semi-auto (auto accident left one arm limited)

She felt vulnerable after a recent foiled home invasion, and cannot handle my XD-S 45, and is too scared of my long gun to even hold it.

She hates it when I'm not home because of this. Now, to try to find some ammo before Monday so we may both hit the range.

She did shoot and want the S&W Bodyguard .38 about a year ago, but there is none to be found anywhere, so settled on the Taurus, with Crimson Trace laser grips to be added when she wants.

This was no easy feat, as years ago, she had an incident with an ex, that I won't get into.

Everyone here seems to have +P SD JHPs, but I'm not going to start her out on those, right away. Standard pressure target ammo is non-existent here, so I'm looking everywhere.

Good for her. I'm glad that even with her medical history she is able to find a solid choice to keep herself armed. I love progress.
Now, for the Taurus vs. S&W battle which is about to begin..........

r1derbike, thoughts and prayers your way. Sounds like
Your wife is a tough gal, good for her. The piece you
Talked about sounds like a good concealed option, but
If your wife would be using it primarily in the home,
Something with a 4 inch barrel would be great. You talked
About ammo choices and what your wife may feel comfortable
With. Try Remington Golden Sabers, 125 grn. +p
Step down from the FBI load in power, but remember
Shot placement is key. Also, the FBI Loads aren't as
Numerous as they once were by the major manufactures.
Take care, and good luck to you and yours.

The 85UL (mine anyway) handles cast lead and/ or heavy, weakly crimped loads VERY poorly. Stick to 110?125 gr jacketed loads and avoid +p ammo. Feed it what it likes, and you won't be disappointed in the least. A pain at the range, but a fine carry piece.

Good choice. The Taurus 85 was my wife's carry gun for a long time. She later 'abducted' a Ruger LCR in .38 that I brought home.

good for her, but if its just a house gun she would be better served with the all steel gun to help with recoil.

an all steel "J" frame size wheely with laser grips and target loads (148gr. WC) is very do'able.
