I went to the local weekly trap shoot yesterday to try my luck with the Browning Sweet Sixteen A5 and to shoot the Browning Superposed bought new by Jack O'Connor in 1968.

I did horrible, again, with the Sweet Sixteen, getting an abysmal 11 out of 25. I was doing equally bad with the O/U until the last station where I got all five clays. Ended up with a sad 14 out of 25. But my buddy was able to video me shooting the iconic firearm so I did a YouTube review of it.

Did the lawyer just add the round scenes of chuckar hunting or was the floral engraving added after the fact? It looks like maybe the floral engraving was factory and the scenes were added? Regardless, a gorgeous shotgun. I personally don't feel offended by the scenes as they are relatively well done. At least it wasn't a couple nekkid laydeez holding Pabst blue ribbon on the tailgate of a pickup or something LOL

14/25 isn't too bad considering you haven't shot Trap much, it's a straight stock, 26", and Mod. choke. Since the Letter doesn't specify a higher grade (Midas, Diana, Pigeon) it probably had very light hand chased pattern engraving. The flats would have been flat filed down to put the new pattern down, this was actually hand engraved, much deeper than the basic Grade I work. The work on the sides of the top barrel flare (where the barrel side widen out to meet the receiver) and along the bottom would have been added then, as well a the gold wire inlay. It's actually nicely done, reminds me of Angelo Bee's work.

Only one Superposed? IMG_20220319_150331963_HDR.jpg

Now you've seen two. Mine just a standard field model, with two barrel sets. 26" Mod. over IC, and 30" Full over Mod. Made in '55, note the much shallower chased machine engraving.
